This would never have happened under Ronnie Shields. I never got the hype around Ismael Salas. He clearly instructed Morrell to fight this cuban amateur style just touch and look good.

Morrell that fought Benavidez and Khataev would have put a beating on Zak and by round 5 he would have been so damage and demotivating that even if Morrell would be dead tired he would still have stopped him in the later rounds. But instead he used a lot of energy looking flashy and playing that touchy touchy point fighting game and made his opponent grow in confidence every round instead of showing him right away that he does not belong in there with him.

        Professional boxing is wildly different.

I used to say it about Luis Ortiz when he was the supposed boogie man in the division. At the time before he fought Wilder I said take Ortiz's exact resume and skill set and change the name to Jack Smith from New Jersey and nobody would rate him. Change the name to Ortiz and put a Cuban flag and suddenly he was going to be some world beater despite proving nothing.
If Canelo`s name was MacDonald and is he was from Scottland, he would have lost to Lara back in 2014 or 2015 and dissapear.

If he fought GGG 3x, he would have lost 3x.

Everyone's saying a lot about Morrell's loss, and maybe not enough about Chelli's win. To be a relative unknown taking a fight against a talented guy like Morrell on a two week notice, and then pulling a stunning upset victory and shooting up the rankings has got to be euphoric for him. We had a similar scenario a year or so ago with Bruno Surace.

I want to see more of that.
