A lot of them just overrated from the start. People see Cuban and automatically think they're great because they won a load of gold medals playing touch butt for points over 3 rounds with head guards in the past.

    Professional boxing is wildly different.

I used to say it about Luis Ortiz when he was the supposed boogie man in the division. At the time before he fought Wilder I said take Ortiz's exact resume and skill set and change the name to Jack Smith from New Jersey and nobody would rate him. Change the name to Ortiz and put a Cuban flag and suddenly he was going to be some world beater despite proving nothing.

Totally. I think they all have a ton of talent but far too much full of themselves ego confidence. Imagine if a Cuban super prospect was mean as hell, never smiled or clowned, and played no games at all. Would be scary.

wilder is terrible though so what does that prove? gerald washington was beating him, the spilzka fight was very even. these guys are very bad at boxing. give wilder credit for the ko's(even though the first one was dubious because of the laughable rest wilder was given) but ortiz as some great boxer was something that never really happened except in peoples fantasy projections. he lost to ruiz, was almost ko'd by martin, and his only notable win was over bryant jennings. after jennings he signed with pbc and his career stalled until the wilder and ruiz losses.

the boogie man thing was manufactured as a lot of promoters do that with fighters. no shame in that. some fighters like ggg and benny live up to their high expectations and some like ortiz do not.

no one ducked ortiz that was the funny part. he literally left match room when joshua was near his peak which obviously hurt the chances of landing that fight, he then got busted for ped's which killed his mandatory spot, then he turned down a career high payday against joshua. all while saying he was being ducked...lol! he also said he didnt have time to train for a whyte fight but then fought on the same date on which whyte offered to fight him, except ortiz fought a pbc bum. pbc was creating a challenger for wilder and he was a decent contender for sure but the problem is most of his hype wasnt based on quality wins, but "skills" and "eye test" when you look back on his resume and he has 1 top 10 win, its fair to say he was overrated and overhyped yet some people still talk about him as if he was a top guy which he never was. he wasnt even on the parker, whyte second tier level. he was maybe a third tier guy for this last era. far from a gerald washington or spilzka but also very far from the other contenders

                CubanGuyNYC garfios

                that's Osleys and Yoelnis

it remains to be seen how well Osleys can fight inside what has traditionally been the bane of Cuban fighters

I believe Osleys is based in Germany

I have to question how much inside fighting work he can get in mainland euroidstan sparring random white boy euroids

sparring with Mexicans will make you into a better infighter

Ortiz was about 100 years old and he schooled Wilder better than Fury could just he was so old his chin bone was nothing but dust

Ortiz did good considering he was a fossil on heart medication if im not mistaken

Morrel is a good fighter with the absolute worst trainer (Salas) and garbage promoter (Margulies) ever. They are sucking the blood out of him and making him look like a below average fighter. He should never, even on his worst day lose to a bum.

Many have outboxed Wilder at times. He got flattened twice by him through.

if he was as good as advertised, he wouldn't have been stopped twice.

like I said, a lot of Cubans seem to get way overhyped based on many from that country winning medals in tip tap amateur boxing. Very few of them have had the minerals to survive top level pro boxing.
