Fat Dave Is Miguel Cotto Level

Grandma LoverSpray_resistant BigBobArum is this a fair assessment of this good champion

a very good but flawed fighter and multi-division success

he’ll win most of his big fights probably 1st ballot hof but the top guys will get the better of him more often than not

I think he’ll finish somewhere between the Miguel to Saul Santos levels

          still around that Miguel level

Miguel has some L’s that he ‘should not’ have taken

but if Fat Dave whoops Fat Gilbert cleaner than Bivol did

Fat Dave PROGESSION towards that Saul Santos caliber?

Miguel Cotto fought in a greater boxing divisions, and currently right now? Still has by far better wins on his resume than David Benavidez.

Note: The only factor keeping David Benavidez in the debate, on whether he is an elite level fighter 'is that he is still an undefeated fighter'.

But when you seriously think about it? Benavidez in my opinion is already at his peak, and he still has not great wins on his resume 'he has to start winning big fights now, in order for him to even reach anywhere near the level of Miguel Cotto'.

Miguel Cotto has only lost fights to "all time great fighters, such as Floyd Mayweather Junior and Canelo Alvarez. And he was able to push both fighters in those fights'.

Yes! Cotto was beaten by Antonio Margarito in their first fight 'I am one of the very few people, who don't deny that. I still think it is unclear what exactly Margarito and his team did which was wrong with his hand wraps. Therefore I rate it as a win for Antonio Margarito, and one of the greatest fights of that welter weight era'.

Miguel Cotto at least avenge his lost to Antonio Margarito 'and had awesome career. My favourite won and fight of his, is against Zab Judah'.

To conclude: Overall David Benavidez for me personally is just a fighter, who is hot right now 'the apparent prestige and universal credit he is receiving right now could easily disappear after a single lost because? Unlike Miguel Cotto, his resume to this point does not really suggest that he is an all-time great fighter'.

Canelo Alvarez was the dominant Super Middle Weight fighter of this boxing era 'not Benavidez, he lost his titles because he could no longer make the weight limit. And? He has not been the dominant 175 pound Champion'.

So it is time for him to do something truly great in his career 'to really improve his rating among the great fighters of his era, and past boxing era's etc.

              Great post

Spray_resistant Austin Trout was a good but definitely not very good fighter who beat Miguel

hence why Fat Dave could still be Miguel Cotto level even if Fat Gilbert [better boxer than Trout] beats him clearly

the definition of big fights is subjective of course. the first marg fight against a prime marg was way more important than a faded mosley or crippled sergio fight imo and that fight wouldn't fall under any of those 5 fights. cotto above 147 was pretty mediocre with his only top 5 win being against sergio who was crippled so i would say all his meaningful fights at 140 and 147 were bigger than any fight at 154 even if it was against a guy like floyd, just wasnt a great weight division for him and especially after 2 severe beatdowns that changed his style into a more risk averse kind of fighter that didnt work against guys like floyd or even trout
