Comments Thread For: Zuffa vs. the alphabets: Who am I supposed to be rooting for here?
Having long wanted change and clarity in the sport, Eric Raskin now finds himself trying to work out which is the lesser of two "evils"

Rooting for old promoter as long as the make GREAT fights by Working "Together".
Dana doesn't want to work with to other promoters or the sanctioning bodies. Plus UFC sucks. Most people can't even name their champions and they only have 8.
Everybody has blame for this. Promoters, sanctioning bodies, and networks have all blocked major fights from happening. Even the boxers can negotiate themselves out of fights. This drives down fandom and weakens the sport overall. The alphabets are too busy handing out belts to everyone and high rankings to undeserved fighters and then getting into public disputes with their best champions and stripping them. But I just refuse to believe that Dana white is the best alternative given his history and track record. The best thing boxing as whole can do is unify with each other, but that’s been said as many times as “boxing is dead”. Hopefully, with all the top promotions coming under DAZN, excluding PBC, they can bring some sanity to this sport that’s been shooting itself in the foot for decades
This is the article, Eric. This is the article you said Turki has the charisma of a turnbuckle pad. Your colleagues have no one but you thank for getting denied access.
The opening bell rang at 12:54 a.m. on the East Coast. And by the time it did, I wasn’t just tired. I was tired of boxing.
No matter how much you love a sport, there is such a thing as too much of it. And the American debut of Riyadh Season, even if made up of individual parts that were all appealing on paper, was simply too much boxing.
The pay-per-view portion of the card at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles consisted of six fights and, in the end, 60 of a possible 68 rounds.
Also, I'd really like to know who started the sport-washing smear campaign..
So Opetaia got $45K for the fight. And Glanton got paid $6K
For a "championship" fight in a packed arena.
Why the hell did he go to Zuffa?
Why would anyone ? Fame? Well modern boxing isnt about greatness. Its about yelling the loudest and talking he most ****. That gets you fame and money faster than any other way.
I believe 1 reason why Zuffa wants their fighters to only fight for their Zuffa belt(s) is because they wont have to disclose earnings to other organizations.
I would expect that it will be more than the normal 20-25% promoters take. Its like cooperate america nickle and diming you with fees. But instead of it being spread around it will remain within 1 house.
Zuffas has not taken any action to make boxing better for the boxer.
Nor do I see that they really want to. They just want to cash in. We all have read the stories of Turki Al-Sheikh acting like he owns ******. That is probably the way he feels. Infidels should do as told and be thankful for what "we' give them...
Yes boxing has needed a reform. Majorly. BUT that will not happen due to greed and lust.
You can force change by NOT buying all these ****** PPVs. 4/5 of them are jokes.
Whats funny is ProBox TV is so much better than Zuffa.
Yes it is slightly older but the funding difference is enormous.
i would hope that they will tear at each other in such a way as to put better match ups on the Screen and in the ring just to compete, i hope they get so defensive that they begin to make boxing so accessable that they loose money but gain old and new fans. But i would guess in time if Zuff does well they will make nice just like Arum and Eddie have done and continue to make money and not give nothing to the average fan expect hype and lies and higher prices on PPV that should never be anything close to PPVs stuff like that.

That's their portion of the fees to the IBF. Likely 3%ish.
May-Pac made boxers divas thinking they could make the most money over-marinating their biggest fight for the end of their career as long as they maintained a perfect record.
Outside of a mini-resurgence post Kovalev-Ward 1, boxing has been dead since, where most of the superfights never happened or happened too late.
NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. are proof one organization like Zuffa is the best thing for sports fans. The business side will take care of itself. There's plenty of money to be made.
Boxers can't even cash in on endorsement opportunities because you hardly ever see them under the old business model.
