Fat Dave’s dad doesn’t want to try to make this fight and is already gaslighting the fans.
“We’ll fight with whoever. We’re fighters. My job is to make David the most money I can make as a manager,” Benavidez Snr said. “I can see the possibility of us fighting anyone after [May 2].
Indicating for Fat Dave that Buff Guy Jai is high risk, low reward.
“But, at this point, the only way I see capable of making this fight [with Opetaia] is Turki Alalshikh. I hope everybody starts getting along and starts working with each other, because, for now, why would we want to fight for a Zuffa belt that has no credibility, no history? Are people going to recognize you?
“When you fight for a belt that’s been recognized for many, many years, you start making millions.”
What is Dave’s Dad talking about fans know that The Ring Title is the ‘real’ belt.
History has shown that moving up in weight to beat the real champ is great for recognition.
