Is Zuffa just adding to the "belt" problem?

The belt problem = there are too many belts. Creating another belt is obviously adding to the problem, at least in the short term. I believe Turki and Dana's long term plan is to make Zuffa, in association with Ring magazine, into "the UFC of boxing"

I get that. But the Ring already has a belt - arguably the most recognisable and iconic belt in the whole of combat sport. So why throw another tacky, stupid looking belt, with a stupid, tacky sounding name, into the mix? Beats me.

There aren't enough passionate, opinionated posters left at this place to create an uproar about anything, unfortunately.

Zuffa is betting on legislative changes because Dana White is best friends with Trump.
with legislatives changes, Zuffa will basically muscle out the current WBC, WBO and IBF. Making them the only game in town. Then White will implement the same economic model as UFC. Much less pay for fighters and strict exclusivity. Fighters have no say who and when they fight.

        F@@@@ck Zuffa

          Dana White has a plan.

Time will tell if he'll be able to execute it, or end up like DAZN and PBC.

The Zuffa belt looks like something from the WWE

So did the UFC belt really, but I always thought they had similar audience except UFC had the dudes that "grew" out of WWE once they realized it was all fake.

It's just going to suck because we're going to get back to the, they're on the other side of the street conversations when trying to make fights happen. Let's be honest, that was a nightmare. I know you still get some of that though it's mostly promoters not wanting to do business with another promoter until they put ego aside and realize there is lots of money to be made by both.

If Zuffa has exclusive contracts where the fighters can only fight other Zuffa fighters or that if you face a Zuffa fighter, you're not part owned by Zuffa, it's going to make it extremely difficult to put together fights with outside fighters.

Wasn't Don King similar in that regard? I may have been too young when I heard this, but did he make it part of contracts that you had to become part of his stable if you took part in one of his bouts? I guess, thinking about it nowadays, that sounds impossible because another promoter is not going to simply lose his fighter so you move to Don's stable by simply losing a match.

Yeah, they are. As of right now, other than Jai, they are a minor league version of pro boxers, and I mean that with all respect to the pros who signed with them. But Zuffa doesnt have anything other than TV dates. They dont have top guys, they dont have a who's who of up and comers either. They're just another entity throwing their hat in the ring, no pun intended. They should've just looked and studied what happened with pbc and the time they tried to create their own belt.

More like pbc. Dazn is an international sports channel/app. Boxing is only one of many sports they show

Yeah, I think Dana is going have to cave eventually if he wants to make big fights. Right now, a lot of the fights on Zuffa are names that I have never heard of. Granted, a lot of them have been very exciting fights but it's hard to get emotionally invested into it when you don't know the guys story line or anything.

I don't know how Dana White is going make a fun and competitive heavyweight division without working with Frank Warren tbh. Salita promotions and Top Rank have just about all of the big American heavyweights so I'm skeptical. I don't really watch the NFL so I guess my Sundays can be just watching guys I never heard of.

DAZN spent a billion dollars planning up buy up all the talent and own the sport.

                      Didn't happen.

Instead, they handed out welfare checks to nobodies like Tevin Farmer and Demetrius Andrade.
