The venue and opponent have yet to be determined but WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is one of the names in the running. Williams had been scheduled to fight WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. The fight was originally set for October 3 and later postponed when Pavlik was unable to train due to a staph infection on his left hand. The fight was pushed to December 5. On Wednesday afternoon Pavlik's promoter Top Rank, and his trainer Jack Loew, announced his withdrawal from the Williams fight. Pavlik's staph infection had not healed up as expected. Loew told a Youngstown paper that his fighter is not capable of making a fist with his left hand. [details]

Now there is a guy who really faked an injury to get out of fighting Williams. Because he signed a fight with Margarito a couple of weeks after he pulled out of the fight with Paul. I can't down talk on a guy for trying to avenge a loss. But he took less money to fight Margarito than he would've gotten had he fought Williams for a unification of the IBF and WBO titles. That's a fact that even Dan Rafael (I don't like him) pointed out in one of his chats last year.

Apocalypse or not, but I'd want to see that fight.

Maybe his last win has given him some heart?

Williams shouldn't fight him. He's taking a chance of getting screwed over again.

I think most of us would, but Mayweather likely won't ever take the fight. Williams at his best I'd favor over Mayweather.

Lets just hope Paul can get a good matchup. This is the 2nd or 3rd time Pavlik has pulled out. His hand didn't look too healthy when I was watching Pavliks interview with BoxingScene.
