    garbage article.

Raskin wants to blame it on private equity executives and bean counters. But the bottom line is that if boxing was profitable, every single one of those executives would still be buying content. But promoters (and fighters) allowed the product to devolve into garbage that ultimately made it a loser for the content buyers. It wasnt personal for them. It was business.

Weak, inconsistent content made boxing unattractive to the media buyers. Plain and simple

I dare any American to walk into a BWWs, Dave & Busters or any local sports bar and ask a random Joe. Can you name 5 current boxing champions ?
This is completely true. Every sports bar has the same NFL game on 8 different TVs and on Saturday it's just college football. To be fair, our mainstream press doesn't talk about boxing AT ALL. You can flip through the pages of the New York Times or WAPO and there isn't even a little paragraph on the bottom right corner on boxing lol. ESPN pretends it doesn't even exist anymore and it has been completely replaced by UFC for the regular white middle class combat fans. It's really only has relevance in the inner cities such Chicago or Baltimore but thats about it.

But the strangest things can happen from boxing
When fighters get wrapped up in image and actin'
fighters get capped up and wrapped in plastic
Zipped up in bags: when it happens, that's it
I've seen 'em come, I've watched 'em go
Watched 'em rise, witnessed it and watched 'em blow
Watched 'em all blossom and watched 'em grow
Watched the lawsuits when they lost the dough
Best friends and money: I lost them both
Went and visited boxers in the hospital
It's all the same **** all across the globe
I just sit back and watch the show, Nash, the watcher.

We could probably save Golden Boy and keep boxing ever so slightly relevant with a Boots - Ortiz fight and did a half decent job promoting it. But I know egos are more important than the sport so that certainly cannot happen.

What's happening in Boxing is the inevitable flaw in the unchecked, unregulated capitalistic society. The guy at the top either consolidates competition or simply no longer competes as is the case with identical pricing at Lowes and Home Depot. Eventually choice is in brand only controlled by a small hand full of people with extraordinary power and influence. At some point the most influential gain unfettered access within the regulatory bodies to change rules and gain more control and financial advantage. A lot happens over time between the siphoning of equity and power to the top until the eventual weight and stagnation of the unsustainable system they created collapses. Not to worry though, they'll be just fine, you on the other-hand are screwed and if you don't like it you're a dam socialist and **** you.

Indeed. When you take into consideration the fact that ruthless capitalism hate socialists more than ****s, well... It pretty much says it all.
