Things just ain't the same for boxing
Times is changin', once young promoters now agin'
Becoming OGs in the game and changin'
To make way for these new names and faces
But the strangest things can happen from boxing
When fighters get wrapped up in image and actin'
fighters get capped up and wrapped in plastic
Zipped up in bags: when it happens, that's it
I've seen 'em come, I've watched 'em go
Watched 'em rise, witnessed it and watched 'em blow
Watched 'em all blossom and watched 'em grow
Watched the lawsuits when they lost the dough
Best friends and money: I lost them both
Went and visited boxers in the hospital
It's all the same **** all across the globe
I just sit back and watch the show, Nash, the watcher.

Pbc had the best chance to bring boxing back with the huge stable they had. Al got greedy (as always) and we're back to boxing, post hbo/showtime, on the outside looking in

Can't tell if you are a crazy poet or just crazy mad like a hatter, but I can't argue the point, good stuff, right on.

Just like Carlos Tavares, Al Hayman made short term money for a few shareholder fighters, and a staggering amount for himself and all the while, burning the company to the ground. Similar to the CEO's of Stellantis, Ford, Tesla, KFC, Red Robin he turned out to be just another greedy guy making America great again.

Without a network, promoters are about as relevant as Sampson with a buzz cut.

If together they joined a network and the sanctioning bodies agreed to cut the BS they'd have a great chance but I doubt it, too many egos, too much greedy self interest. Unfortunately it's more likley that the sanctioning bodies will continue to bleed the system until they're down to 3% of bar fights and then sell out to Zufa... or whatever they call themselves.

The old guard is reaping what they sowed. They took the helm of boxing with no vision for its long term future; only for maximizing their revenue in the short term.

They shrunk their market by limiting access to it with PPV and relied on subscription network deals until the networks were uninterested in working with them.

They neglected the long term growth of the sport by lack of investment in a pipeline.

And worst of all, they chipped away at the integrity of the sport by corruption and incompetence.

That is the opposite of how the major sports organizations business models. The NFL keeps its best product on the most accessible networks from NFL Sunday to the Super Bowl, invests and even subsidizes other leagues and youth sports with a constant pipeline of prospects, and aims for the highest integrity (the keyword is aims).

The old guard has a superstar driven business model, the new guard has a superstar business model. One relies on individuals like Tank Davis and the other relies on process. One can live through a downturn, the other cannot (I’ll let you take a guess at which one).

At this point, the old guard can band together for a last hurrah or go out alone with a whimper. The new guard is coming with a sustainable business model, great leadership, and full of resources that is building for the future. The old guard has been checkmated, they just don’t know it yet.
Forget everything I wrote..............This guy sums it up......right on!

I wonder why you guys always use Al Haymon, Tank Davis or Floyd PPVweather as examples when you want to critique the sport. Bob Arum got kicked off HBO and Espn and currently doesn't have a home. Kathy Duva is lost in the wilderness. Oscar currently got kicked off Dazn and he is a coke head. Hearn is only around because he is the only one desperate enough to give Saudi suck offs. Why don't you guys ever use them as examples? What is it that I'm missing? Hahahahahaha

Al got kicked off HBO too. And CBS and regular TV. Whats your point?

We use Gayman cause he has a history of corruption...(music and boxing).

Boxing, as any professionnal sport, is a capitalistic enterprise, and as such, the big fish will eat the small fishes till there is only one huge fish left. There will be competition at first but in the end it will become an monopoly, with a few fringe organizations. Turkish D. and Zuffa will grow, then absorb PBC, Top Rank, Golden boy, Matchroom and Queensberry.
