Comments Thread For: Enhanced performance: Dalton Smith beat Subriel Matias at his own game

When Dalton Smith learned before Christmas that his next opponent, Subriel Matias, had tested positive for the banned substance ostarine in a performance-enhancing drug test, he would have been well within his rights to refuse to fight the WBC super-lightweight champion in Brooklyn, New York.?

Congratulations to Dalton Smith for his achievement.

However, getting drawn in to fighting your opponents fight is a risky strategy and he's likely to come unstuck before long if he continues this.

As for this article, whilst I realise that the last line references Smith's post fight comment, really?
The use of PEDs in combat sports can have grave consequences for fighter's careers & even their lives.
The crass punchline to this article merely serves to trivialise & normalise the use of PEDs by reducing it to a subject to be joked about. This is cheap, lazy journalism which needs calling out.

Subriel is done @ 140, probably done as a fighter? At some point you can't just assume you can repeatedly taking punches to the head, instead of learning how to avoid punches! Defense wins Championships! Hopefully he gives 147 a try before hanging them up. Browny is always entertaining, to say the least! Cong**** to Dalton Smith, for both accepting the fight, and beating the Champ in fine fashion!

Great fight to raise his profile beating the boogey man at his won game after a failed drug test.

Those type of fights will always take something from a fighter.

Congrats Dalton...he not only beat the drugged up champion in his own back yard but he TOOK the belt from him in dominant fashion. However, I still think Azim has more upside and favour him to win when they eventually do square off.

Nevertheless, handing Matias his first stoppage loss on foreign soil is an awesome achievement.

Subriel is limited but always a danger with his motor and chin. Big win for Smith and he may have cracked both for good.

Azim and Smith will be a HUGE fight in the UK if both stay undefeated and Azim has a great performance next time out. Could be a big change in the division with these guys coming through.
