The official "talk down the achievements of successful fighters so I feel like less of a failure" thread

As we all know, the best way to feel better about your life is not to engage in constructive activities but to log onto the internet to talk down the achievements of others. Finding fault, hurling abuse and provoking people provides the dopamine hit necessary for the congenital failure.

So come on, let's get imaginative. I've heard plenty about why Mayweather, Pacquiao and Canelo's achievements are nothing next to the witty prose of terminally online forum dwellers. Strike for the dizzy heights of dopamine achievement by finding new fighters to denigrate.

I think there should be space for constructive discussion about a boxer’s resume.

Unfortunately that can’t happen here on NSB with certain people because they are too mad that one specific boxer keeps getting ranked as the best of his generation over the #2 guy.

The only way to move #2 up is to try and diminish the top guy’s resume, which includes a dominant win over #2.

Hopefully we can get back to a time when resumes were discussed as diehard boxing fans, not just upset and angry stans.

          Rant over.

well you have the opposite point of view with people saying if you never fought in the ring you cannot ever criticize any fighter ever for anything period

so even a william scull is a brave warrior and all this horse ****

the guys at the top are paid a lot of money and they are paid to entertain. if they duck other fighters or fight like ******* they opened themselves up to criticism.

I would say its only rude to be overly critical of the opening guys who are only making 500-10k a fight they arent getting paid **** especially after all fees and taxes and have a day job. They are taking the same risks the guys at the top do but without the rewards.

This is a reasonable reply. I was mostly jabbing at the coterie of obsessives who are in multiple threads every day talking about May, Pac and Canelo.

I took issue with Canelo ducking Benavidez, especially while Bena was in his weight class and Bena moved up in frustration

People will say Canelo earned the right to fight who he wants. fine he can fight who he wants but he also claimed 1. he was the best fighter p4p in the world and 2. the best fighter at 168. Well stop claiming that if you wont fight the number 1 challenger that the people want. You had no problem clearing out the division and unifying when it was weaker champions and i still give him credit for doing it in 12 months but to back up your claim you are p4p 1 and the best at 168 you have to still fight the best. If he said "Im getting older now and Im probably the 4-5th best fighter and Benavidez is too strong for me so Im going to sit that one out" then ok i can respect that but he demands the fans give him the credit of being number 1 without having to defend that title.

And canelo was still under 35 at the time

Usyk i will give a pass to fight who he wants and retire. He unified heavy and the belts are already getting split with all the ABC rankings drama. There are a few up and coming young guys but if he wants to skip them I can see it. If he beats them people will just say they were green and it will be like floyd beating canelo, he wont get full credit. If they beat him then what does that even mean hes almost 40 it doesnt prove they could beat him in his prime. if he wants to sail off in the sunset undefeated that is fine for me he took risks fighting bigger guys already.

                    1. Cherry Deontay is not his retirement fight. Oleksandr has 2 years left so that's 2 to 4 remaining bouts
                    2. Inadequate credit is overstated. Beating Dubois made some declare he's better than Ali lol
                    3. Some credit for beating a pre-prime is better than zip credit from beating Cherry Deontay
