Here we go: Frank Sanchez-Daniel Dubois two fighters that need each other to stay relevant! I like Dubois of these two reason being he not scared of a challenge and will look to go for broke that is until or if he gets hurt. Frank meanwhile don't seem to be motivated for a title shoot or seem as if he deserves one. The edge has to belong to Dubois in this one it's all about the X factor and Frank just going through motions and just happy being in America at this point.

I will say that Top Rank moves their fighters very strategically, so if there's anyone to blame for Torrez not fighting Sanchez I'd put my $ on TR being the culprit.
Not buying it. Who passes on a title shot, especially against an old man?

Again, I think it's more Torrez's team vs Richard himself. Plus, it's not a real title.

Having to unpack the machinations of the (corrupt) sanctioning bodies in every article is another thing working against boxing having wider appeal. How many times have you read the mind numbing story of how Dubois became 'interim' before being upgraded, knocking out AJ, then losing the belt to Usyk?

This is a good fight for the division if it comes off anyway. That's all that really matters, rather than "he once fought for an 'interim' XYZ but is now positioned for a potential shot at the ABC etc."

Watch Richard outside of boxing; he has tell tell signs of Autism or a neurological disorder; childlike inflections/behavior, wonderment, speed of speech, et al. Not saying he does have one, but I would not be surprised.

I have no doubt the kid wants (and likes) to fight, but he also exhibits signs of being protected by his corner, who in this case is his immediate family.

People love acting like Dubois was gifted a Usyk rematch when he earned it. He stopped Miller Hrogivc and AJ. If you got a problem with it blame Hrogvic and AJ for losing not Dubois for beating them

In the interviews of his I've seen/listened to, he just seems like an enthusiastic young man that's happy with his life and looking forward to what's next. The job of his team is to move him properly, for the long haul. Most fighters want the smoke. They want to be the best and need to beat the best to do that. He only has 13 pro fights, though he was obviously a great amateur. A lot of fans don't seem to get the development side of boxing. They have no skin in the game. I expect he'll make good strides in 2026 and be ready to contend for a title in 2027. I don't think he's a future ATG, but I'm hoping he can become the next American heavyweight champ and have a good career.

And what does it say when your own team has no confidence in you? You can be a prospect for only so long. At some point, smart fans will start to ask why you still have the training wheels on well into your 20s. [See: Brandun Lee, Joey Spencer]
