Comments Thread For: The Beltline: Is it possible to watch bare knuckle boxing without feeling dirty?
What is most revealing about bare knuckle boxing, a place where Paulie Malignaggi recently ventured, is how its unsavoury elements are promoted rather than hidden, writes Elliot Worsell

I've literally watched people get beaten to death live in the ring numerous times as a boxing fan. Boxing, not bare knuckle boxing, is the most dangerous sport. The length of the fights leads to much more accumulated damage and boxing gloves are, in fact, weapons. They may reduce cuts to your opponent's face but they also add a significant amount of mass and allow you to punch harder more frequently without hurting yourself.
Just the Japanese Boxing Commission alone has killed more people than the entire sport of bare knuckle boxing since BKFC was founded.
I mean these are grown men who decided to get in there rather than work in a warehouse for a chance at big paydays and I can't blame them. They could have simply not and gone a safer but less potentially lucrative route.
Paulie, you let that man split your head open like a pig's foot.
You talk like you're smart on podcasts and announcing, but that was a pretty dumb move you made. In one bad move, you shaved years off your eyesight, your brain health and your motor function. You took a lot of damage and punishment to your dome piece. At least you don't have a spiked water bottle and a dent in your skull like Deontay "retribution will be upon us" Wilder

I don't get it
boxers hit harder than mma
but it's easier to knock someone down and out in ufc where they don't punch as hard

bare knuck is still primitive
boxing fans were against ufc at first too seen as a white trash sport
but mma ultimately won over many boxing fans

Paulie misses boxing but can no longer high level box
so he's went over to bare knuck where the skill level is lower so he can be competitive
still a feather fisted retired boxer is the last guy you'd think would go into bare knuck
Its entertaining as **** but it will always have a clear ceiling because on a technical level its too close to actual boxing but will never be able to attract actual prime elite boxers to it. Its basically low level boxing with a few changes and a 00s MMA aesthetic.
Again, super ****ing entertaining to watch though. I have nothing against it.
