Glad he's back but still no word of his opponent. Does the 'interim' bauble have to be defended against someone in the WBC top 15?

Good question. Does the Interim Champ have the same obligations as the full Champ?
i.e. does he have to fight a Top 15 contender? Does it have to be a 12-rounder?

I do remember Interim Champs in the past doing 10-rounders with opponents outside the Top 15. But different sanctioning bodies may have different rules. So what are the rules for WBC.

Here's the current WBC top 15:

      1. Okolie
      2. Dubois
      3. Joshua
      4. Itauma
      5. Hrgovic
      6. Ajagba
      7. Bakole
      8. Sanchez
      9. Zhang
      10. Jalolov
      11. Torrez Jr.
      12. Vianelo
      13. Wilder
      14. Chisora
      15. Jared Anderson

I don't think it will be any of these. They want a nice soft-touch, homecoming, tickover fight for Kabayel. No way Frank Warren will do otherwise. He got burned badly when he put Interim Champ Joe Joyce against Zhang. No chance he makes the same mistake for Kabayel.

He's not really a German and it's hard to imagine he could ever sell anything in Germany, which means the boxing establishment headquartered in the west will not allow him to ever be the face of the sport. If he's lucky he will reach Axel Schultz or Henry Maske level but even that's a stretch as they were true German.

I thought kabayel was Turkish, going by the name rather than being judgemental of if he looks German or not. But if he wants to be German ill accept him as German of course.
Be Turkish and be the first Turk to be champ or whatever.

He was born in Germany and still lives there today. Of course he's German.

He was born in Germany and he lives in Germany. He's German. His parents are of Kurdish descent from Turkey.

I really could not care any less where he comes from; just want to see him get his shot.

We need more prolific body punchers as champions.
