Comments Thread For: Chris Algieri?s School of Thought: Danny Garcia showed enough that I can see him fighting Jaron Ennis

Danny Garcia-Daniel Gonzalez was promoted as ?Farewell to Brooklyn?, but I don?t think it?s the last we?re going to see of Garcia, writes Chris Algieri.

Utter nonsense. He lost clean to Spence at 147, barely beat Benavidez at 154, got stopped by an ancient Lara at 160, then smoked a nobody. He should retire with his head held high, he had a great career. But he's done.

Boots needs to be fighting guys that are ranked at 154. Ortiz, Fundora, Murtazaliev, Zayas, Baraou, Madrimov, Bohachuk, Adams, Ramos.

So Garcia was full of shlt about that " Farewell Fight " business , just trying to sell a few more tickets. Like most other guys , he will hang around until some young buck or two beats the crap out of him badly enough for his family to beg him to retire. The same sad story as always. I understand it though it's sad to see. I hope that he doesn't take any permanent damage.

No way! Danny Garcia is well past his prime now. However, when you think about it. Why the Hell not? Swift has made a career out of beating up old shopworn men who were well past their primes. So far, Boots have not fought an old man yet on his resume. So let’s do it.

Chris Algieri - you wrote paragraphs on whether Garcia should hang them up or not but nothing on whether Paulie should be fighting? I'm sure you must have had that conversation with him. A scratched cornea is no joke - Paulie is a very very capable analyst, if a little too excitable at times, he needs to entirely focus on that.

Jermell keeps making noise about coming back, I'm sure he wants a decent payday - a Garcia fight would offer that and would be farely evenly balanced considering the lengthy layoff of Charlo. Or just rematch Thurman which is a decent fight.

Ennis-Garcia is a waste of time for both regards career progression - a total mismatch. If it happens it's a cynical cash grab .... will probably happen then.

Yeah man, why make Fundora - Ennis when they can each fight hasbeens Thurman and Garcia respectively and 'marinate' the bigger fights (which probably won't ever happen)?

Wasn't Algieri encouraging Benavidez to delay a Bivol fight not so long ago?* When boxing's self-appointed thought leaders don't even demand the best fights it's little wonder we don't get them.

            (*might have been Sergio Mora)

Can we stop with this before it even starts? The entire boxing community is in an uproar with Boots because of his poor selection of opponents; having him beat up on an old man does nothing to reverse course.

Boots would leave Danny completely on his back kicking and punching while completely out, Danny defense is wide open and he’s slow as hell compared to Boots, this would be predictable and a bad result, hell to the nawwwww!
