Comments Thread For: Erickson Lubin has a different take on boxing than Gervonta Davis?

In the same week that Gervonta ?Tank? Davis declared boxing ?dead,? Erickson Lubin moved nearer a fight date that only the heartiest fighters would consider.

Why is Algeria jibbing on about a win vs Ortiz putting Lubin in line for a title shot? He had a title shot lined up.already. Losing to Ortiz sets him a mile back...winning puts him in the mix for some interim WBC or WBA belt. His campaign for a title has been set back by De la Hoyas carrot on stick.

On paper this is a very good matchup but one that Ortiz should win. He’s simply the younger and fresher of the two fighters.

In addition, Vergil isn’t as shopworn as Erickson Lubin either and has less mileage on him too.

He hasn’t absorbed anywhere near the accumulation of punches that Lubin has in his career.

It should've been Vergil vs Jaron, not this fight.

Vergil is probably not as good as Boots, but if they fight Vergil will be coming off a succession of wins against the best men in the division and Boots will be coming off exhibitions and clowning second rate guys. So, IMO, Vergil can do it

Boots needs 4 tune ups before facing a top 10 to 20 fighter

If Boots does not fight Ortiz by May of next year, I will get off the Boots bandwagon.
And if they do fight, Boots will stop Ortiz.

If Boots doesn’t fight Vergil, I would be very disappointed, unless he’s fighting Murtazliev! Murtazliev is the new “boogeyman” at 154!
