Canelo sold the belts for $150m

Where's the rage? Where's the frustration and disappointment? Where's the anger about losing all his titles and throne as the "face of boxing"? Where is the Mexican pride? Where is the drive to prove he's the best and beat the little 38 year old who moved up TWO weight divisions and beat him easily? Viva Mexico???

Canelo sold the belts for $150m. It was another Vegas showbiz choreography, a sparring session at 75%.

Canelo knew years ago that he could not handle Crawford, he resisted the loss by saying he had nothing to gain by fighting the small guy so he ducked it. After a couple of years of some phony fights and a ton of profits, Canelo decided it was time to sell out rather than keep ducking and shaming himself with Benavidez.

I have zero doubt whatsoever Canelo vs Crawford was a scripted staged production. And there are no plans for any rematch.

Are you saying that Canelo deliberately threw the fight for $150m? If so, I disagree. Firstly, he already HAD a couple hundred million dollars in the bank so didn't need the money plus his Mexican pride cares more about racking up as few a losses as possible (just like how Marquez refused $100m for a 5th Pacquiao fight).

Therefore, Crawford beat him FAIR and square in a close fight and not a one-sided ass whooping as some people like to claim.

With Canelo on the decline and pretty much out of the picture now... Who will be the new Mexican boxer to carry the name and pride for Mexico? It's crazy to think that once Canelo retired, there's really no one left that has the drawing power such as Canelo.

Benavidez or Bam although both are technically American.

Crawford was going to beat him fair and square any way. He already really beat him two years ago when Canelo ducked the fight to fight those easy hired patsies instead. Canelo always knew Crawford is way too much for him. But losing to Crawford is a lot better than getting brutalized by Benavidez. Yes I totally believe Canelo decided Crawford was the right guy to lose to and it's the right time to step down.

Good question. Strangely there's a dearth of top Mexicans, maybe Fundora can be built up to be the next big thing? With his sister as the sideshow.

Yes but Canelo would rather lose to the quiet humble POLITE black American who is already being mentioned as a GOAT. Getting knocked out or continuing to run away from another Latino Benavidez, who has a status and profile miles and miles below Crawford, would have devastated his legacy, image, ego and cred.

I can't see Benavidez taking the crowd because even right now, he's not really a draw. Maybe once Canelo retires, the Canelo/Mexican fans will start rooting for Benavidez since they have no other choice.

I HALF agree...Canelo signed a $100m 4 fight deal with Turki who wasn't just going to allow him to continue fighting nobodies like Scull whilst paying that sort of money. Therefore, he probably thought that fighting Crawford in his own weight class (whilst forcing Bud to jump up 2 weight divisions) was a far SAFER option then going up to Light Heavyweight to fight Benavidez or rematch Bivol. It'll be interesting to see who he fights for the remainder of his contract.
