He could still/we could still argue that he is. He has never been stopped, so who "wins" on points is just opinion, not fact. By Nash Rules any fight that does not end in a stoppage, and that is if Nash agrees with the stoppage, is a draw, with the exception of knockdowns, the fighter who scores the knockdown gains a point, so could win a fight on a knockdown via "points" Canelo has never been down, so has not lost that way, so by Nash Rules, Canelo has never lost. Canelo and his fans can claim that he is unbeaten by Nash Rules, and hardly anyone agrees with the current points system/fights being decided by 3 people who don't really matter. Nash Rules is the way forward and it stops people running, they'll try to at least get a knockdown to win on knockdown points. Canelo vs Crawford was 0-0 in score, so a draw. Nash out - His Majesty
Just a reminder: not so long ago 90% people here felt like Canelo was unbeatable

Not true at all. Note he only made his move to 168lbs after Benavidez got stripped for missing weight, he wasn't interested when Benavidez was an active title holder. Bit of a coincidence that...
In 2021, boxing and the world in general were just getting back to reality after all the Covid 19 restrictions - Canelo was facilitated as the cash cow with promoters bending over backwards to accommodate him. while most fighters were happy to secure at least one fight in the year Canelo was afforded three. It's also worth noting at that point 168lbs division was one of, if not the weakest division in boxing. Anvi Yildrim was #1 in the wbc rankings FFS.
Canelo didn't really beat anyone world class or elite to win those titles - Callum Smith, BJS and Plant were all average fighters with BJS and Plant acquiring their belts in vacant circumstances.Last edited by Elastic Recoilz; 09-22-2025, 07:50 PM.Comment

Cant be talking about me. Canelo has never been unbeatable, this was proven in his ****ty performance aginst Mosley in 2011, and Trout in 2013Comment

This why I have TBud as p4p king following his win over Saul. Dominance
TBud has beat every opponent so thoroughly that rematches were unnecessary
his only close call being Madrimov
Naoya has his rematch with Nonito
Bivol has his rematch with Artur
Usyk has his two rematches plus that Briedis fight

All he could do was fight the fighters in front of him.

I never once thought Canelo was unbeatable. In the MAJORITY of his matchups, I would have picked him to always win. The only fight I thought was 50/50 was probably GGG and heck, I think GGG beat him the first time. Then against Bivol, I thought Bivol wasn't that good and Canelo would probably win, but once he didn't, I just chalked it up to the size being too much for Nelo. Though that said, I never once thought he was unbeatable, he was just picking the perfect opponents. Again, until probably GGG, I never thought he was going to lose against the guys that had him in the ring with. When you think that way, you know, it's good match making in Canelo's favor.Comment
