I do not understand that Wilder fighter

he had no rear hook on the inside instead throwing a rear slap that did nothing to the opponent

Wilder was better than 99% of those who ever stepped into the ring. If he ******, then so did virtually everyone else- and I think thats the point of the thread.

Now, maybe Wilder had mediocre boxing skills compared to other title contenders, but that ignores the whole aspect of boxing being a sport- ergo athleticism matters.

There is a weird thing with a lot ofboxing fans, they hate for fighters to succeed due to athletic ability. If you win because you are faster, or rangier, or stronger, thats a bad thing for a lot of fans. They only want to respect fighters who win due to skill set or determination.

Maybe its an 'Uncle Rico Complex', it helps them see themselves in another more successful man.

hmm im not so sure. he was pretty crappy. he was hyped 99 times more than the average boxer too.

he wasnt an athlete though. he had terrible coordination and fell over when he threw punches. he also had terrible and or no defensive instincts/ability. charlie zelenoff was mere millimeters away from landing a haymaker on his chin. wilders size and reach allowed him to punch the mentally disabled man first but it was oh so close to being the funniest thing ever.

And yet he defeated title holders and top 20 ranked fighters, knocked down a future HOFer in Fury. There is no way most fighters ever get anywhere near that. had to be something he was doing. At any given time during his peak there were probably a couple thousand professional heavyweight boxers in the world, at most only a handful were better than him. That puts him better than 99%

If he won because his size and reach, then I guess thats a factor that allows someone to win boxing matches, doesnt make him any less because of it. We don't get to say that only fighters who win the ways we like get to be good, as long as he won within the rules then it counts.

And yes he was athletic, he had excellent strength, speed, and body composition, all of which counts towards athleticism.

Bud has fought spence whos prime was left on the dashboard of his car and Canelo who has been on a major decline and went life and death with John Ryder...not to mention he was schooled by Lara years ago..beaten by GGG twice in most eyes and previously dominated in a much less competitive fashion by Mayweather and Bivol than Bud did..

This is choreographed greatness and the afro americans and casuals are lapping it up putting him above past way more deserving fighters
