His resume is stacked on paper if you don't pick it apart. But you do that with any fighters resume and you can diminish their wins for one reason or other

He lost to the best fighter of the last era and lost to (supposedly) the best of this era. The Bivol loss was probably a dumb mistake to attempt anyway

He was just the best of the rest so I would rank him about an A and not A+ like Floyd, Usyk etc.

He's world level but never been above that ability wise, never what I would consider elite p4p type level... his stock seemed to shoot up based on him beating a bunch of European plodders around 168.... Crawford fight shows he hasn't improved as much since the mayweather fight as people thought

because his fans thought he was and still do think so

to be fair he was very good but not as good as his legions of devoted fans thought he was, they had an excuse for everything tho so perpetuated the canelo greatness but its over now finally, benny would have ended it but he took the bud fight thinking he had a better shot at that one, proved wrong as well

he basically hogged the titles and handed them straight over to bud who gratefully accepted lol

Canelo vs fighters that won a major world title at some point in their careers (not counting secondary/interim):
W vs Miguel Vazquez SD 4
W vs Miguel Vazquez UD 10
W vs Carlos Baldomir KO 6
          W vs Lovemore N'dou UD 12
W vs Kermit Cintron TKO 5
W vs Shane Mosley UD 12
L vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. MD 12
W vs Erislandy Lara SD 12
W vs Miguel Cotto UD 12
W vs Amir Khan KO 6
W vs Liam Smith KO 9
W vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. UD 12
D vs Gennadiy Golovkin SD 12 (robbery, GGG whooped his ass)
W vs Gennadiy Golovkin MD 12 (another robbery, GGG whooped his ass again)
W vs Danny Jacobs UD 12
W vs Sergey Kovalev KO 11
W vs Callum Smith UD 12
W vs Billy Joe Saunders RTD 8
W vs Caleb Plant TKO 11
L vs Dmitry Bivol UD 12
W vs Gennadiy Golovkin UD 12
W vs Jermell Charlo UD 12
W vs Jamie Munguia UD 12
W vs William Scull UD 12
L vs Terence Crawford UD 12

Other notable wins: Austin Trout, John Ryder, Josesito Lopez, Edgar Berlanga, Matthew Hatton, Avni Yildirim, Rocky Fielding, Alfredo Angulo, James Kirkland

Even with the two GGG robberies, it's not hard to understand why Canelo was well regarded. He became risk-averse after the Bivol loss but that doesn't change what happened before that.

          Titles won
          154: Ring, WBC
160: Lineal/TBRB, Ring, WBA, WBC, IBF
168: Lineal/TBRB, Ring, WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO undisputed
          175: WBO

            Are we really doing this?

Yeah Canelo tested positive but he is still a 1st ballot HOFer. His only losses are to 2 ATG’s, Floyd and Crawford, and another possible future HOFer, Bivol.

IMO he lost the 1st GGG fight as well. He will be in the IBHOF as well. Likely 1st ballot.

Not to mention all the quality wins in his resume.

Come on guys. Crawford proved he was better than Canelo. This elevates Crawford without knocking Canelo down.

His work ethic, dedication to the sport, and ability to take on all challenges, as well as challenge himself by competing in multiple weight classes despite the failures and successes, are notable. The only one in history to hold all 4 titles at 168lb once upon a time.

His resume is stacked as well. He has a tremendous style and a huge fan base following his heritage. Although I don't think he's the same anymore due to a whole lot of mileage, he will be remembered in the boxing history books for a long time.

Outside of finally facing Benny (he won't), or pursuing a rematch with either Crawford or Bivol (he won't, and I'm not even crazy about seeing them again), Canelo's interest as it pertains to me personally has stepped over the expiration date.
