I remember when Canelo fans were saying Benavidez was avoiding Morrell lol

he batters Morrell and then they go back to the narrative that ‘Canelo lives rent free in Benavidez head’

I’m a Benavidez fan and would be pissed if he was avoiding a mandatory or a tough challenge. As a boxing fan, I want to see the best fight the best.

yea Canelo has done a lot, but this pick and choose BS is extremely lame. ‘Benavidez disrespected Canelo, Canelo can do whatever he wants, he’s the king’ - then follows up with fighting Munguia and Berlanga. What a total farce.

If you’re champion, mandatories need their shot. but of course the sanctioning bodies LOVE their money man champion.

Benavidez very well may lose against Beterbiev and/or Bivol but at least he’s not a pvzzy

Yeah Canelo needed an unproven Berlanga for his ever so perfect legacy. Cus Berlanga’s great resume made him so deserving for a shot at Canelo.

how is someone like Benavidez supposed to prove themselves when they can’t get the top fights? Canelo did beat a lot of faded champions, that were good wins/names, but this era doesn’t have the names and opportunities that Canelo had.

Benavidez has beaten the best possible opponents and hasn’t avoided anyone. what more does he need to do?

Canelo pulled the most blatant duck move of the century because he had literally no valid boxing related reason to avoid the fight other than fear of an ass whooping. David earned the fight, would have been Canelo most lucrative fight since ggg 2 in 2018, and been Canelo’s most credible opponent in several years as well. Anyone who defends him has compromised their dignity to do so which is common place for Canelo fans as they are a pathetic group of simps.

Let's not feel too sorry for him, Benavidez has been given plenty of superstar treatment himself, just less than Canelo. He was provided with an 'interim' inducement at 175lbs despite Beterbiev having recently fulfilled his mandatory obligation against Callum Smith. The WBC then proceeded to call their mandatory almost immediately after Beterbiev - Bivol 2, out of rotation.
