Introducing the FUTURE of heavyweight, Huston's own Joshua Edwards

This guy was described as a "super athlete"

He was a former two time all American at Houston State

Coaches say he could have made in the NBA or NFL if he wanted to, but boxing was his passion

He may just be the most naturally gifted athlete in the division today

Oscar has declared him the Boogeyman of the heavyweight division

    4-0 and we just starting

    Thanks for posting NihonJim!
I have very high hopes for Joshua Edwards too. He was a terrific U.S. amateur with Gold at the prestigious Pan Ams beating Cuban standout Fernando Arzola and international star Abner Teixeira da Silva, both of whom sit right at the top of the International Amateur ratings at Super-heavyweight.
His success in field sports is impressive but it’s the work ethic that wins me over.
At just 25, I hope he keeps focusing on the one and only thing that can make his life that of a special human being, and that he ignores whatever premature trappings that early success can temp you with.
Jared Anderson is the most recent cautionary tale.
If Anderson had his head right he'd have looked at himself after Bakole and said "I can definitely use this information I got tonight, and keep moving up with it".
Edwards looks like he's got that mindset.

One of 5 best <10 pro fight prospects in the division, for sure.

Sorry, he lost his best matches in the amateurs and failed to score one knockout in 26 fights. He has little power. If he could play footall well, he would be in the NFL.

I question whether you had attended any of those amateur fights as I have, Doc.
Meh, Oleksandr Usyk got clobbered by Clamente Russo, Osmay Acosta, Xiaoping Zhang, Matvey Korobov, Mohamed Hikal, Babacar Kamara, Lukasz Wawrzyczek, Sergey Sklyarov, Omer Aydogan and even.....Five-Foot Seven-inch Shawn Porter in the amateurs; and that didn't do much to foretell his accomplishments as a fully grown adult.

What I've always done, is to focus on a young fighter's DEVELOPMENT in the amateurs; extrapolate using THAT information, as I've done in my post above.

I remain bullish on where Joshua Edwards looks to be headed.

I do not think he will go far as a pro based on never scoring a KO as an amateur and losing his most important matches.

Can't box on a high level or punch. He won't reach TOP 50 at box rec

He looks to be punching just fine as a pro, additionally you can see the athleticism when he fights, he has great fluid movement, very refreshing in this era of STIFF lumps

As a Brit, so am I.

The heavyweight division always needs a realistic American proposition.

Joshua Edwards really seems like a powerhouse in the making with his athletic background and natural talent, already 4-0 and generating hype as the "Boogeyman" of heavyweight boxing.
