Vergil is a big boy so 10 lbs re-hydration clause does not work for him. For his own part Lubin gets destroyed either way so he might as well get paid for his trouble against Ortiz. If Ortiz is overworked a long vacation is better than devaluing his brand. Murtz is High risk low reward. Lubin might not be less risk for even less reward. Murtz makes more sense for the title.

It seems like everyone is avoiding the bogeyman of boxing Bakhram Murtazaliev nowadays and he is an IBF titleholder too.

It’s more likely than not that Lubin’s handlers feel more comfortable and safe by putting their charge in the ring with Vergil Ortiz rather than Murtazaliev and I can’t say I blame them.

Ortiz; Being the naturally smaller man moving up from a 147 lbs has not brought his power up to 154 with him.
He has left it behind at 147.
