I don't think the average American cares about Olympic boxing. I personally never cared. i always thought subjective judging sports shouldn't be in the Olympics. Too much history of robberies in Olympic boxing.

Eh, the popularity of Olympic champions like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Sugar Ray Leonard, & Oscar De La Hoya disagrees.

Americans don't care about a bunch of sports UNTIL you wrap a flag around it & give somebody a gold medal.

I remember 1992 when Oscar De La Hoya was competing, it was the thing that launched him into his stardom.

The Olympics, were also the launching pads for Floyd Mayweather Jr., Roy Jones, Shakur Stevenson, Andre Ward, & Claressa Shields,

                I agree.

Now name a figher an average American knows that was actually born in the 90s. That would place them atleast in the olympics in the mid 2000s.

I Agree and you are adding to my point thats when boxing was still popular. Boxing started to fall off 20 years after the first superbowl (popularity of American football). First superbowl was January 15, 1967. A generation after the first superbowl is post 1987-1997. Notice something? Thats when Heavyweight boxing started to decline in America and thats when boxing really started to die here.

The average American doesn't know shields, Stevenson, and Andre ward. They just dont and most wouldn't care.

What current and previous Olympic boxer does the average American knows after 1997? Wilder is probably the only one but his ppv numbers dont indicate he was well known in America like Tyson, Hagler, hearns or Leonard. Shoot Tommy Morrison was more popular at his peak than wilder.

Who was the last major boxer to have a commercial or major sponsorship??? I can't think of any. We need American boxers promoting fast food, cars and etc like other athletes in America.

Mike Lee was actually sponsored by a major brand ( sub way). His commercials were national. He was never elite or major champion. Stevenson, Clarissa, Ward, Wilder, Crawford and all of pbc fighters never had a national commercial in America. We need to grow these American fighters into American stars not just boxing stars. America is very isolationist at their core. Americans Mostly follow American sports and tend to not like when their sports become internationalize ( gain a following outside America)..

Why hasn't eddy hearn marketed Boots more? Why isnt he on the breakfast club radio show. Why isnt he doing commercials and etc??

Boots need to start explaining. i live in central PA. Why isnt he fighting in harrisburg, state college at the university or even Pittsburgh. Lets go back to building a fighter up and taking him on the road. He can be more than just a Philly fighter. That was great taking him to AC but Pennsylvania is big. He should be fighting some of these bum fights on the road in small markets to big up his brand. Buffalo NY, Niagara Falls, Pittsburgh, Jersey City. Come on eddy. Get him on good morning NY or good morning Philly.

Idk y PBC isnt marketing Fundora to the fullest.
