Nobody forces them to sign with Matchroom. I'm pretty sure they look around at the offers and come to the conclusion that Hearn's outfit is offering the best deal for them.

It looks like Keith Thurman is next for Ortiz.

I wonder if Thurman is "the fighter who is bigger than Ennis will ever be" - either that is inflating Thurman to superstar status or condemning Ennis to mediocrity - or both

Eddie has had Boots for almost two years, and the best fight he has gotten him is Stanionis. Instead of going back-and-forth with each other, Boots and Vergil should be trying to fight for titles at 154, but that's way too dangerous. Two ducks. The only difference being ohe is Black and the other is Mexican-American.

To be fair to Ortiz he has just fought Bohachuk and Madrimov - that are as challenging as any other fighter at 154

I can't say I really blame Team Ortiz. When the opportunity was there for them to fight. Team Ennis turned them down each and every time.

So now it looks like they are heading in Errol Spence's direction for a potential showdown there. Who is even more popular, even a much bigger box office draw and with less risk than Jaron "Boots" Ennis.

They are not saying they are ruling that fight out completely but "Boots" is just not in their immediate plans at the moment.

Ridiculous. Booty turned down what would of been his highest payday AND a shot at the titles against Crawford and turned down his highest payday against Virgil.

It's scary because I am afraid that you may be right. In his 10th year of professional boxing; Jaron hasn't fought anyone that I could think of that was even so much as remotely good or a risk. Everyone is saying how good he is so why won't he prove it? Is it because a fear of losing? Until he does then we will never know.
