Comments Thread For: Dmitry Bivol files for medical exception with IBF after back surgery

the belt organisations are both inept and crooked - add that to Bivol seeming less than enthusiastic to fight the trilogy. Why for example has this back surgery only been mentioned now? It's not as if you wake up one day and say I think I'll have back surgery this week. It's planned weeks ahead - you consult specialists beforehand. Then, we don't know where he had surgery - but if I was worth tens of millions like Bivol and needed back surgery that could affect my multi-million dollar earning power going forward then I'd want the best surgeon possible regardless of cost - I doubt that surgeon is Russian. Transparency could clear this up and when there's a lack of transparency - then yes, me being cynical or worldly-wise - I suspect that we are not getting close to the whole story.Comment

Come on...Yarde's got next to no chance of beating Benavidez. He might survive until the final bell but he'll take a hell of a beating along the way.Comment

So Bivol has been injured for 10 years but only decides to get an operation the week where criticism against him intensifies?
Hmmm great timing and noto su****ious at all(!)
Secondly, why did he ENTER into rematch talks for a trilogy fight to be held in Russia when he was injured? Why not disclose it and then resume talks later. Instead he ghosted at negotiation table.
Thirdly, he said he was injured months ago, why did he just have surgery NOW? Was he waiting for an NHS appointment or something? Can he not afford to go private like other millionaire athletes? Why didn't he do this BEFORE?
Finally, why wasn't Turki told about this? Why weren't belt organisations told about this? They would have given him an exemption.
Why did he get stripped AND drop a belt AND avoid Benavidez, who was his WBC mandatory?
Why go through all that only to sideline yourself in the end with no money and no opponent?
Sounds like he ran out of excuses and went for the sympathy angle so he can juice off-contract and delay his obligations to Beterbiev, Benavidez and Turki.
None of it adds up.

Hope itīs not an excuse to fight Benavidez. He won vs a much smaller Canelo but on points, already lost against a tough Beterbiev and thatīs it. No more names and he doesnīt dare to be great by moving up 2 weight classes like Canelo. Bivol would still would not be the A side in a rematch vs Canelo at 168.Comment

Seems like either youīre not Mexican or a total 1diot. Benavidez is not Caneloīs daddy, maybe yours. Benavidez is much bigger than Canelo and at his age, Canelo had much more fights and belts. Benavidez only fights once or twice a year to avoid wear and tear. Anyway, real Mexicans like me, cheer for both. If Canelo wins a fight, fine. If Benavidez wins against whoever, fine. Real Mexicans cheer for both.Comment
