Im feeling what people are saying about Kenshiro being old at 33 - he's always in wars. Honestly, I didnt agree with the Ring ranking him p4p. P4P heart and action, but not a p4p boxer.

3 very good fights, maybe its recency bias, but that kid who beat up Rosas looks like he could be the next big thing. Guess we'll see.
its pretty rare to dominate the competition when you fight competition as good as teraji does. the list is not something to take seriously. they had 40 year mosley on the list after he clinched the entire fight vs margarito before scoring a ko. obviously not a p4p level boxing performance. they had robert guerrero on the list for moving up a bunch of divisions fighting mediocre opponents. i can think of much worse fighters than teraji who continually fights the best fighters and wins most of the time even if its touch and go. i'd still have him above canelo even after dropping a debatable decision to a top guy. canelo is in extreme cherry pick to look good mode. he wont fight you unless you are proven to be not credible.

Unlike Sandoval, gotta remember that Teraji is 33 years old, he is already on the downslide considering the longitivity of fighters in the lighter weight classes, this is not even taking into account of how many wars Kenshiro has been throughout his career. Akihiko Honda, would likely prefer that one of his fighters like Olascuaga, to take a shot of earning the titles while Teraji recovers and catapult Anthony's career without facing another Japanese fighter. Honda doesn't like it at all when he matches his own fighters that he works with unless it is necessary to make a profit.

Reason why Honda turned down Rodriguez vs Nakatani, despite that Robert and Rudy were in talks to make the fight happen. Saying he is willing to make IF it was built to be a big headliner.
Thank you for the information. I appreciate hearing from people who are knowledgeable about the lower weight classes.

That Murata v N'Dam robbery was even worse. Japan, the only country where they rob their own fighters. bizarre.

Teraji was absolutely deserving of his pound for pound ranking. WBC, then WBA/WBC/TBRB/Ring/lineal at light flyweight, WBA/WBC at flyweight, 13 total title defenses. He's going to the Hall of Fame off that resume.

I'll put it this way. Maybe based on resume alone, Teraji could be on a p4p list, but I never saw a greatly skilled fighter. He went life or death against so many of his opponents. So maybe he deserves his place on a p4p list, but it's likely to be short lived.

And I am not dissing Kenshiro - I love his heart and will always watch his fights. I'll watch his next fight.

I'm the biggest Canelo hater out there (I had him losing to Trout and GGG I) and will never defend him. Like you say he's keeping his p4p slot based on promotional muscle.

OK, y'all convinced me, Im not gonna hate on the tremendous heart of Kenshiro when we have cynics like Canelo on top of the p4p. I mean, I had him winning the fight (although it could have easily been Sandoval). And honestly, the bottom of the p4p top 10 is kinda who cares, so may as well reward a dude like Kenshiro.

The point is to win the fight. Teraji has 11 wins over world champions in two different weight classes. The reason he has close fights is because he consistently fights elite competition, unlike many of his P4P contemporaries.
