Comments Thread For: When Antonio Margarito rocked Miguel Cotto

I’ll concede to the fact that Pacquiao’s damage had a lasting effect in how the NYSAC was closely following the injury during the fight, but that Cotto was going to gas out and get stopped? You lost me there.
I’ll tell you someone that SHOULD’VE gotten stopped but wasn’t… Lucian Bute in that first fight vs. Librado Andrade, I tell you what.Comment

I know he had a case in court because I worked in law enforcement and been to both civil court and criminal court. I had to take law classes.
I actually handle court proceedings for a living. Now go lie and say you do too with that Oregon guy.
Dean Lohuis, the former California inspector who pulled the hardened inserts from Margarito’s wraps before the Mosley bout, said: “Those pads were used in more than one fight. . . . The pad was dirty, used and looked like it had been around several times before. I’m convinced it was there against Miguel [Cotto]. . . . You can say it’s circumstantial but in my view . . . it was more likely than not.”

Luis Resto’s was far more egregious than Margarito’s case. It is extremely disturbing to think that in a sport where it is already most likely clinically insane of two men bashing each other into submission, you now had a trainer slitting the glove, taking out ALL the padding and proceed to have Collins get hammered and FUBAR’d. Crazy to think that someone just happened to touch Resto’s gloves and IMMEDIATELY knew something was up right then and there in the ring.
I remember seeing Cotto's face swollen as never seen before when he took the knee vs Margarito and thought, damn, nobody bust Cotto's face up like that. Then Cotto faced Pacquiao and although Cotto was busted badly, his face did not swell in the same manner. Then the Margarito results come out vs Mosley and you look back at how Cotto's face swelled up and you can kind of put the two together. It wasn't just swelling from the usual punches a fighter takes but with a foreign assist.
You can look up the Bill Collins Jr. or whatever his name was whose face got swollen up from Luis Resto. There are some similarities in how their faces ended up following their bouts vs loaded gloves.Comment

It's Ok, we don't need a confession. The fact that Cotto is in the Hall of Fame while Margarito is in the hall of shame, tells us all we need to know.Comment

Bob Arum, who promotes both Cotto and Margarito, said, “The fight everyone would want to see is a Cotto-Margarito rematch.”
But Cotto wants Margarito suspended for life.
“I know Cotto says Antonio won’t make another penny off [him], but if he’s offered a lot of pennies to take the fight, I think he will,” Diaz said.
Thats why he probably didn't pursue it. ^ boxing been dirty.

You’ve tried to say you already knew it can’t be overturned to the other poster and no trying to backtrack again with this crap
You’re all over the place.
In this sport, boxing, fights can’t get overturned based on things that happened in future fights. Very simple. So now you are hopefully aware of that it will save you asking such a retarded question in future.Comment

I never once said it couldn't be overturned. I said he had a case to fight in civil court. The guy said it rarely happens. I said I agree but not for that reason. I said I agree because most boxers don't go to court. So now you are saying something I didn't say.

Agreed, Antonio Margarito will scarcely be referred to as a good man of exceptional character.
