  • Usyk: “I am NOT the best fighter in the world, Terence Crawford is the best.”

I’ve heard both Usyk and Bivol mention 3-4 times that Crawford is the best fighter in the world. What do you guys think about that statement?

    It's a reasonable opinion.

It's also a reasonable opinion to say both Usyk and Inoue are better than Crawford.

All three of them have great resumes and you can reasonably put them in any order you want.

That they are trying to be humble but know they are better than Crawford.

I think he has a bit of fun with interviewers. I'm sure he believes he's the best.

I mean, he is quite factually the best anyway. Pound for pound is mythical level stuff.

Usyk is a student of boxing history, he knows that Crawford is one of only nine three division lineal champions in the history of the sport. If he says he believes Crawford is the best in the world he's probably telling the truth.

About 10-15 pounds difference between those three 'lineal' championships?

Lineal is questionable in terms of determining the 'best' anyway. And when it comes to anything below heavyweight I don't think 'lineal' should even be talked about. Guys are moving up divisions constantly. You can't have a lineal status when guys are leaving the division constantly. How many breaks in the lineage are there at Welterweight?

Lineal is for the Boxing World Champion. THE Man who beat THE man. ie the one you win and lose in the open division.

I think they're just being gracious. Not like Crawford wouldn't claim himself as the number 1 p4p

                  100%

Whereas Crawford says he's the goat, Usyk and Bivol have the humility of the best champs.

That's a very bold declaration by Usyk, he will need to elaborate to convince us ring observers. If Usyk does not or cannot articulate exactly why Crawford is the best then he's probably just saying it because he's naturally humble, which is a big part of his still refining greatness.

I'd like to hear Usyk analyze in depth Crawford's greatness. It's actually very similar to Usyk, both have achieved perfect careers with not one single mistake or off night. Both of their styles are original and multi dimensional. I think it's impossible to determine which one is better. It's a dead heat for p4p.
