I think it's to the contrary, they're making big losses on the sport so that they're able to gain control of it. They now have a platform in DAZN, and fighters clambering over each other to get on Turki's shows.

In a short amount of time they've almost eliminated the need for promoters (in the current sense of a promoter) and being real, it's the big promoters that control the sport. When you are the last one left as the dust clears, you are the one who decides the terms. They'll basically have a monopoly/stronghold on the sport where they can begin to charge whatever they want.

All they need is someone to actually promote/market their shows properly without it being an entity that will take a % of the profits.

Fair point. Though I would argue that Boxing may just be the lowest hanging fruit for them at the moment to get to bigger mainstream goals. They 've tried their hands at other sports and even though, they've pumped in money and those sports have gladly taken the money, they aren't ceding control easily as boxing has done all in the interest of seeing the fights we want and fighters been paid handsomely. They understand that with Boxing not having a regulator, it can easily be manipulated and captured along with all the verticals that will inch them closer to the takeover attempt of the other mainstream goals and who knows maybe by then, Boxing will be less important to them and relegated to what it was before. But like I said, I 'll enjoy it for however it lasts.

I just don't see what Turkis doing being long-term. Eventually we'll see a headline saying either "Turki's Out!" or "What happened to Turki?" ...meaning either he'll just drop his financial support after achieving whatever goal he wants or we'll see less and less "Turki Fights" and start wondering where his involvement is...only to find out he'ls investing his money elsewhere...

When that happens, the traditional Boxing model will be trying to pickup the pieces

They are using sport to create a presence in the eyes of the average Western citizen. It's called building a brand. It takes time and is a neverending process. If it wasn't you wouldn't see Toyota, Mercedes Ford adverts on TV, in glossy magazines, Superbowl half time adverts etc.
Saudi Arabia has decided to rebrand as an attractive tourist destination. This is quite a hard sell and a competitive market. Turki is here for the long run.

If that happens then we will have seen this generation of fighters in great matchups. Stevenson Kovalev was a huge miss, better to see the fights than wonder "what if?"

If Turku vanishes then for a vanishingly short time they'll be a vacuum; lack of fights. But a vacuum is always filled and new promoters will enter to start the whole process again

Yeah it’s pretty embarrassing for boxing how easily it was taken over it’s barely a sport.

Their biggest fight will be on Netflix. I think their smaller shows will be on Dazn

All I know is if Bam beats Cafu and Martinez 5 months apart and after beating all the champs and contenders that he’s beat, he deserves to be # 1 Pound per pound. No will have even close to a resume like that.
