IBF-ranked fighters have to fight other ranked fighters in their top-15 every 18 months.
So, their no-name ranked fighters fight each other and go up in the IBF rankings. It's how Pascal vs Eifert becomes an eliminator fight.
Eiffert defeated Pascal for this ranking
Although I truly believe he’d get his ass handed to him cause Eiffert took everything in the tank to beat a washed PascalPBR Streetgang likes this.

Fun fact Eifert is ranked nr. 48 at boxrec and nr. 3 in his country. Even funnier he is ranked behind Felix Sturm who is now 46 years old and just came out of prison.
I looked at Eiferts record and its honestly a joke this guy never beat anyone his opponnents dont deserve to be called journeyman.
He beat Pascal which is by far his best win and Pascal was 40 at the time and just had 1 fight in 3 years against a guy called Fanlong Meng. I think i can rest my case there is no excuse of how this Eifert guy can challenge for a world title without making a mockery of the sport of boxing.

Eifert never climbed up any rankings never fought one guy with any talent, no name or not he just never fought anyone. You can't defend the IBF for this joke.
I hate to say it but we could argue who has a better resume Jake Paul a non boxer disney kid or Michael Eifert the guy that is supposed to fight the world champion Dimitry Bivol. That alone is a shame no sugar coating from you needed.

His last fight and only fight since 2 years he beat a 12-4 guy and 2 fights before Pascal he beat a 7-10 guy who lost his last 5 fights but you claim the IBF ranked fighters fight each other and go up in the IBF rankings. Honestly buddy i can't see it even after i tried.

Eifert won the vacant IBF Inter Continental Light Heavyweight Title against Adriano Sperandino. That is a sort of regional championship for the IBF and also a springboard into their rankings. After that he beat Pascal in an eliminator.
I like that the IBF has rules and seemingly follows them (unlike the WBC) and only has one champion per weight class (unlike the WBA).
I think their ranking system is atrocious. I think they could tweak them and get much better fighters. I've also read that some fighters don't wish to be ranked by the IBF because they don't want to bother abiding by their stringent rules (whereas other sanctioning bodies are bit more "malleable")....I don't know if it's true but it may be another reason for the dearth of talent in their rankings.
As for the Jake Paul point.... Eifert may have a weak resume and may be undeserving of a title shot but the win over Pascal is significantly better than anything on Paul's resume. Paul has only fought one guy who was a legitimate boxer his size and age and he lost that fight. I get the point tho.Last edited by PBR Streetgang; 07-03-2025, 12:53 PM.

since we have new and uninformed posters, i'll explain this situation.
ward retired and his mandatory beterbiev fought for the vacant ibf belt and won. in 2019 ibf had their final eliminator meng fanlong - adam deines which meng won. then meng's promoter won a purse bid but for a couple of years they couldn't organize that fight because of political reasons (beterbiev didn't want to fight in china because of their bad treatment of ******s in the west part of the country). ibf then gave deines (loser) a chance instead but meng remained ibf mandatory. after a lot of waiting, meng fought pascal and lost. that's how pascal got that position. then pascal wasn't in a hurry to fight beterbiev and he already lost to bivol. after some time pascal lost to eifert and here we are.
i wanted bivol - eifert for a couple of years just to free beterbiev of that mandatory. meanwhile they gave bivol some totally irrelevant opponents. beterbiev had 2 then 3 belts and as many mandatories all the time.
all in all that mandatory wait is SIX YEARS long! in the meantime wba, wbo and wbc had multiple mandatory fights. what should ibf do? tell eifert to retire because he is unknown (like almost everybody in the world)? he is not elite but he accepted that eliminator. be angry at boxers who don't want to fight eliminators, not at those who accept. this happened many times and will happen a lot in the future too. just as people will not follow boxing and then be surprised at ordered fights.
