He most likely would. I think a lot of the ire that he draws is one reason that I don’t see many posters focusing on:

*He’s making a larger amount than a highly promoted, highly heralded Olympic gold medalist would make in his early fights. He can also afford better trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, etc.

If he was literally anybody else and was stripped of his celebrity status (but still being able to train and have access to high class facilities/aids), no one would bat an eye.

I’m personally willing to look past all the vitriol given what he’s done for Amanda’s career and because he’s (whether we like it or not) raising fighter’s public profile when they fight on his cards.

But if nobody wanted to bend the knee, I wouldn’t fault them for it, either.

I think Claressa Shields was on record a couple years ago stating she didn’t believe in fighting on Jake Paul’s undercards. And I personally can’t blame her. I’d WANT to make more money, but at the same time my pride and ego as a two time gold medalist would eat away at me if I gave in to that.

I'm interested.

I want to see how far Jake is willing to go. Will he fight a world ranked cruiserweight or somehow fight for the title? Or any of the the other fantastical fights he's mentioned?

I take it for what it is. An interesting sideshow.

I have no problem with Fake Paul as a sideshow, but this is taking a sideshow and putting it on the main stage. It's making a mockery of the sport.

When the WBC gave Ngannou a world ranking, you could at least see the justification for that: Ngannou fought the WBC champion in a none title fight, decked him, and took him to a split decision. The WBA ranking Fake can't be justified in any way, and I'm asking myself why they have done it.

Zurdo is the WBA champ. Fake has said he wants to fight Zurdo and Zurdo has been talking about fighting Fake before trying to unify with Opetaia or Jack. We all know that Zurdo would obliterate Fake Paul in a legit, fair fight. Fake knows that too. So what the fuck are they planning here?

'Boxing' is not an abstract entity that can prevent anything. You've supported the sanctioning bodies through the worst of their crimes and this is the apotheosis.

World title fights can't happen unless they are sanctioned by a boxing commission. The Association of Boxing Commissions have their annual convention next month.If they agreed that no WBA title fights would be sanctioned unless the WBA stopped bringing the sport into disrepute and removed Fake Paul from their rankings, that would do it.

How have I supported the sanctioning bodies? By acknowledging that they exist and their titles matter? By not playing along with with some silly fantasy about "the fans" transforming the sport by only recognising lineal champions?
