Could Mayweather have beaten current Canelo at 168?

Could Mayweather have successfully done what Crawford is attempting to do today?

Mayweather P4P is better than Canelo, but they have weight classes for a reason. I guess we can speculate if some version of Mayweather packed on the weight and moved up could he, but we never really got to see that, so its a very dubious speculation to make.

Feasibly you could try and project, but thats a pretty far leap to make.

I dunno. I wanna’ say an automatic yes but who knows?

Mayweather’s only two fights past 147 were De La Hoya and Cotto and he [at times] got touched up.

If you wanted to be cynical and an apologist, you could say, “Well, Floyd had never been on a stage that big with mainstream appeal like De La Hoya and the nerves got to him a little. And Cotto…well, he was going to prison right after the fight for a domestic spat.”

And Canelo is better today than he was back then.

      But who knows?

Remember when we all thought that Marquez going into his third fight with Pacquiao he was going to get smoked? Remember: after their second fight in March 2008, Pacquiao went on to tear through opponents and weight classes like a searing hot knife through room temperature butter. Marquez was moving up in weight and 4 years older looking good at lower weight classes. What transpired was Pacquiao going through hell a third time and eventually a fourth time getting knocked out. So who knows?

Maybe Floyd has his number. Maybe Canelo does a little better. Maybe Floyd actually wins 9-3 objectively but due to the “Canelo score conversion” that translates into a majority draw somehow.

Canelo wouldnt utilize his size advantage ala Cotto or Maidana. His size in fact would be a disadvantage against him, limiting his speed and ability to land big counters, not that he would have hit him anyway. Mayweather via UD

Why would he want to do that? The man is 50-0 give it a rest. He's not taking a L in real life so now yall want to make one sided hypotheticals fights to give him a disadvantage?

It’s called a hypothetical, dummy. I see that you took the short bus to school.

Floyd drained Canelo to 152 for a reason.

              Canelo by brutal KO.
