Cotto was in total decline unless you consider Sadat Ali elite lmao

So? Crawford fought Spence after a life-changing car crash and years of hard partying yet he's still considered an elite fighter. In fact, it's abundantly clear that he was at the END of his career as he hasn't fought since!

Therefore, it's only right to consider Kovalev an elite fighter too as he was the defending WBO Light Heavyweight champion when he faced Canelo and only had 3 losses to his name (including the first fight against Ward which many fans & media thought he WON).

As for Mosley & Cotto, they're both in the HOF so HAVE to be considered elite fighters by default plus Cotto was defending the WBC & Ring Middleweight belts at the time of facing Canelo.

Lol GGG was 35yo when he defended his Middleweight belts against Canelo which is exactly the SAME age as Cotto who was also making a title defence. Kovalev was 36yo. So what's the difference? Obviously GGG is the superior fighter and a generational talent but Cotto was fighting in his fourth weight class whereas Kovalev had just avenged his loss to Alvarez and was coming off an impressive stoppage against Yarde. Also, Mosley had just gone 12 rounds with BOTH Mayweather & Pacquiao in the 2 years prior to facing Canelo (and almost took Floyds head off) so was still a very game opponent.

Sorry buddy but you're talking absolute NONSENSE!

Even then I haven't seen him utterly dominant over a top level opponent, his chin and skill let's him compete at the level of his opponent and get the upper hand slightly enough to get him to `win in the scorecards as the favorite. But he didn't really hurt Mosley and Cotto who were at the end of their careers and smaller men, haven't really thought he beat Golovkin in I-II fights, the third Canelo was quite confident and coasted the fight with low activity, until he was surprised Golovkin could fight in spurts at 40 years old.

The smirk he had starting he fight was gone when he received a punch combination. Late in the fight, they were both winded. Shocking considering Canelo was 32 years old. The fight was lopsided, but the scorecards shown that Golovkin even passed it, was a tough task for him.

His most dominant wins are over Plant and Saunders, but they are feather fisted and haven't really got consistent elite level wins. Kovalev also had was coming off two difficult bouts and no time to recover and do a proper camp, the Russian was winning the fight until he gassed late, unable to react on time when getting caught with a overhand.

There are his bouts with Trout, Jacobs, Lara and etc. Which aren't bad, but not dominant. Don't think I thought of rewatching those fights that often either. Aware the are bouts like Kirkland and Angulo, but that's few of the fights he got a KO outside of 168.

Yes, this is a legacy fight for Bud. Bud already whooped Spence at WW so there's nothing else to prove there. Only ones left is Barrios and Norman. Canelo's scalp does 10x more for his legacy than Barrios's and Norman's.
