My only gripe is that this is PPV. This is not a PPV fight and neither can they say it's because of Wilder's name. Yeah, he's got a name, but he's coming off major losses. This should have been free. I'm intrigued either way to see how Wilder performs. He did psychedelics and it altered his mindset. Here's a guy that used to be knocking people out without regard to their well being, breaking down because he had just knocked someone out. Wilder's a tremendous heavyweight because of his power, and his ability to walk down bigger guys. He' a small heavyweight as far as weight goes. But he was never a skilled fighter. He relied mostly on his power. Let's see if he can add new wrinkles to his game.

Regardless of what occurs this week, Wilder should retire. A heavyweight is typically long done by the time they reach the age that Wilder will be on the 27th; 39 years, 8 months and 4 days.
Add to that, the fact that Wilder has fought 48 pro fights, lived in the top 3 in the Heavyweight Division for 7 years, and fought top ranked opponents for a decade.
Against the 100 best heavyweights of the 21st centrury, Wilder is 11-4-1 (10), which stacks up well against Tyson Fury's accomplishments, just 37 fights, going 10-2-1 (6), and Oleksandr Usyk's 23 total fights, just 7 of them at heavyweight; 6-0-0 (1); Joseph Parker with 39 fights, 11-3-0 (4), or even the fragile Anthony Joshua, who's fought just 32 fights, going 13-4-0 (10) against the top 100.
I make certain to give consideration to ALL of the metrics involved when rating or berating the accomplishments of a fighter, and I rate Wilder's work as outstanding.
His resume is Certainly lacking the top 10 opponents of Joshua or Parker; but not by as much as people propose, and you can get only so much mileage out of that fact when there are shocking, in-prime losses to accompany that metric.
An ugly national, ethnic or racial prejudice doesn't distort the valuation for me, thus I find myself too often comming to Wilder's defense on these threads; to counter the odd claims from what I presume are either Brits or bigots, because; who else would have anything bad to say about the most exciting, most dangerous big man to come along since a prime Mike Tyson, who had his flaws too.
Above anything to properly close out this Heavyweight era; I'd like to see Wilder vs Joshua, and see how Joshua does against another of the three long-term champions of his era.
