Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn: ?Francisco Rodriguez wasn?t going to be denied?

Francisco Rodriguez brought an intensity that Galal Yafai could not match Saturday, beating up Yafai for 12 rounds, setting a flyweight record and plucking his interim belt.

"I feel like Galal Yafai is that guy that can fight at an elite level and Rodriguez isn't actually that elite guy. He's a world-class fighter that falls short at that level, and we expected Galal to overcome him, but Rodriguez was too much for him.”"

Some people just don't know what they don't know, do they Eddie?!

Rodriguez wasn’t Sunny Edwards, was he?

Hearn should probably steer clear of matching Brits against any tough Mexicans. It usually doesn’t work out well.

        Just another overhyped Olympic medalist
I guess it’s back to smashing domestic level Brits

I'd like to see Francisco Rodríguez and all boxers with exceptional physical performance (especially those who train at SNAC) fight in Riyadh (a city with strict doping controls). That way, we can compare the number of punches thrown.

You know, except for that time he became unified WBO/IBF champion. Or those 5 times he beat world title winning opponents (Takayama, Badillo, Hirales, Novoa, Marquez). Or that time he got robbed blind on the road against future Hall of Famer Kazuto Ioka.

Frankly at this point I wonder if Eddie is just not very smart (to say it politely) because anything he says negative about Rodriguez just further damages Yafai's reputation (if there is anything left to further hurt) and makes it even harder for the chance of making a quick turnaround for possibly one more world title chance.

In Eddie's words "Yafai is capable of getting a bogus interim against a broken fellow Brit but falls short against a true world contender level" is all that is going to be said when noting Rodriguez.

The Brits are full of sheet. From Hearn to the media. He says Yalai was the favorite because he beat Edwards, so? Mexicans believed Chihuas Rodriguez was the favorite but DAZN is British so it has a pro Brit narrative. The Middle Eastern Brit took a beating, trying to fight toe to toe with a Mexican, something that Mexicans love to do, slug. At the end, the Brit was holding for dear life.
