  • Comments Thread For: Will Turki Alalshikh?s new policy improve the action of his fight cards?

Call it buyer?s remorse, or setting a new standard, but Saudi Arabia boxing financier Turki Alalshikh has disseminated a new edict that he does not want ?Tom and Jerry? fights where boxers are running from the action.

Maybe. He should put in the contract that if your boring af then you get half the promised pay.

People don't pay for a fight to watch a marathon

Turki's paying, I'm thinking it's his prerogative what type of boxing he wants on his shows.

Not necessarily, that would only encourage Devin, Scull and the likes to continue fighting the way they fought last May. That fighting strategy is what turned Turki and the Saudi's off in the first place.

Haney, well.....perhaps his opp will Ryan the fck out of him in every fight.

Trust me, cornermen and trainers don't work for free

It probably will considering Silly Billy is already whoring his Jerry back to naive sucker Hearn to build him back up.

I think if it is made part of the scoring criteria (and make it know to the fighters) that judges are to score not just punches landed, defense and ring general ship, but now if a fighters "seems" to be running, then it goes into the scoring consideration. Also the ref has right to pause the fight and warn/deduct a point from the running fighter similar to how they handle holding, rough housing or low blows.

That might help but the line between running and a boxer getting out of harms way to reset themselves to box can be thin. So it's probably cases where it is blatantly apparent. Some fighters get hurt and start retreating to get their wits back. I don't think that should be classified as running. They're clearly hurt and trying to survive the round.

Turki has zero boxing knowledge and doesnt care about the fans or the sport. If he wants good fights and cares about what the fans want and the sport needs why did he not made Benavidez vs Canelo?? He puts on Scull vs Canelo and afterwards Crawford vs Canelo, allowing Canelo to fight a second fighter who jumps up two weight classes. Canelo is undisputed at 168 but since he won the undisputed title in 2021 he didnt fought any top 10 168 pounder let alone a top 5 or top 3 guy. Thats 3 years not fighting anybody while holding all belts hostage. Turki wants action packs fights but decides for Canelo vs Scull instead of Canelo vs Benavidez or Morrel and now he is crying. make it make sense

How about learning the lost art of cutting off the ring. Less fighters had been running back in the day because you had guys who actually knew how to cut of the ring instead of plotting foward with slow feed following the opponent. Boxing is full of people who dont know nothing. Put Scull in there with someone who can cut off the ring and tell me how boring the fight is when scull is pinned to the ropes and gets forced to fight or gets beat into submission. The fight was boring boxing Canelo has slow feets and cant cut off the ring. That my freind is a lack of skill from a so called boxing great. If these cats would spend more times studying old school fighters instead of beefing on the internet or playing golf than they might would figure out how to become a better fighter.
