So he cuts his promoter for looking out for his own interests? EDLS still got paid. I don't see why Edwin would have a problem with that. Very weird.

Edwin needs to rethink things. He got protected and got a check. Sampson did right by him.

Only thing that makes sense is TR went behind closed doors and told him they will reschedule the fight if he gets rid of Sampson.

That would explain the generosity of the payment they gave him.

It's possible that this isn't the first time DLS has felt distrustful of Sampson, and this situation was the last straw.

The fact that Sampson gave him his release is also revealing. De Los Santos is not a prized commodity, so it doesn't matter if he leaves. Sampson already got his cut from this situation and wasn't the lead promoter anyway, so he won out.
