But half??? The fight fell through.... I understand and agree that Lewkowics should get a fee or percentage, but I feel 50% is awfully steep and might have been the reason DLS decided to break from him.

DLS wound up getting paid way less than what he would have made fighting. I highly doubt he would have won, but he always had a puncher's chance and anything can happen up on that ring. By not fighting he ended up losing a big portion of what he was gonna make and a chance at winning a title....

If Edwin got paid 50% of the purse I totally understand the split. In most cases like this, the fighter's purse has already been "spent or at least earmarked" way before the fight so the fight not proceeding and the fighter not receiving his whole purse (minus the cuts) is an absolute financial nightmare for Edwin. That is why he wanted to go ahead and fight anyway and that is why Keyshawn was so confident he could get away with it. Yes Sampson potentially saved Edwin from a serious injury but a real warrior does not see that. he wants to fight and he wants his purse, so it is good buy Sampson.

Santos apparently got 165 000$, half of the 330 000 he was supposed to get... After 18 months of inactivity, minus expenses... that doesn't leave much. He probably wished his promoter negotiated more money instead, for the 4 pounds extra. Could have gotten good money for it too probably, seeing it was Davis' hometown gig.

Sounds like DLS would have loved that extra $400k, but wasn't given the option by both promoter and trainer.....

Sampson recently said that Keyshawn rehydrates to 25lbs at least. Such knowledge shows how they were managing David Benavidez at 168 as Chavez Sr. said Benavidez easily blows up to 195 on fight night when he was at 168. When David fought Roamer Angulo he came in at 171lbs and lost his belt. The show still went on. Nobody was worried for Roamer’s health lol.

Only thing that makes sense is TR went behind closed doors and told him they will reschedule the fight if he gets rid of Sampson.

That would explain the generosity of the payment they gave him.
Yes, a snake move like that would figure.

You nailed it! A very bad move by DL Santos indeed. His promoter saved him from the worst beating he would have ever gotten in his career, even possibly a career ending beat down.

That weight advantage was no joke. Edwin is already naturally smaller, and Keyshawn's height and weight advantage would have been too much.
