Makes you wonder how much of Crawford's plan to 'come out on top' involves running and playing for the judges...

If Terence Crawford somehow pulls this off he's:
-the first 3 division undisputed champion of the multi-belt era
-the fourth 3 division undisputed champion ever (Bob Fitzsimmons, Tony Canzoneri, Barney Ross, Henry Armstrong)
-the third 4 division lineal world champion ever (Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao)
-the sixth 5 division major world titlist (Tommy Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao)

Those are boxing gods. Every one of them.

Canelo should be the clear favorite, but I'm rooting for Crawford to make history. It would be an absurd accomplishment to do all of the above while skipping 160 entirely.

Just seen Turkis comments on the undercard. Very disappointing. This is 'the fight'. Use it to showcase the best boxing has to offer

TC is not a better boxer than floyd, maybe a better fighter but that's 2 different things. canelo struggles with defensive boxers that has great movements and footwork. TC is usually flat footed because TC likes to throw power shots. TC does show some upper body movements but he's not really fast on his feet like floyd is.
Crawford can move when he has to, see the postal fight. But that was at least 5 years ago. Can a 37 year old Crawford do that vs Canelo, who'll be hitting him to the body every chance he gets. I don't think so. But that's why they fight the fights.
Canelo might stop him late, but probably win on points

U know your history but I'd separate Fitz and Homicide from Canzoneri and Ross, in that Bob and Henry were classic triple crown champions. They won titles in 3 of the 8 classic divisions. (unofficially I put Sugar Ray Robinson in that vaunted list too. He was basically the lightweight champ)

Ross and Canzoneri won titles in half divisions.
Also the alphabets are meaningless. Lineal and true championships are all that matters.

of course he can move.. but i am comparing it to floyd. it's night and day difference.

i dont see canelo stopping TC, i think TC is too smart for that, i could be wrong but i just cant see that happening. I think canelo edge out a close decision.

Gotta factor in the canelo effect too. Hell start round 1 with a 2 round advantage. Crawford would have to win 8 clear rounds to maybe get a decision

Nahh, Bud gets touched much more than Floyd. Floyd could lose a sequence, and still not divert from the game plan. He'll keep the same pace

Bud will lose a sequence and he'll want some get-back. His temperament is much different. He's a lot meaner than what Floyd was at the time that Canelo fought him. Against same sized fighters, it's an advantage for Bud. Canelo is much bigger, so idk how it'll play out

The Mayweathet/Crawford comparison in regards to Canelo's size and weight in each fight are off base; not referring to stylistic comparisons that is a different discussion, just regarding their relative size compared to Canelo.

When Mayweather fought Canelo, he had fought 4 of his previous 5 fights at welterweight, with the fifth being at SWW. He was essentially moving up half a weight class to fight Canelo at the 152 catchweight.

Similarly, Crawford will have fought 4 of his previous 5 fights at welterweight, with the fifth being at SWW. However, he will be moving up to fight a fully grown Canelo at SMW, moving up 3 weight classes.

This isn't a knock on anyone, just pointing out the clear difference.

Let’s hope Bud is willing to stand and trade with Canelo and there is no running and no taking a knee. Bud is going to be well paid but his credibility is not being challenged by a lightweight.
