From A (Avanesyan) to Z (Zzzzzz).

That's what the name "Josh Kelly" elicits in this old curmudgeon's mind.

He better never think about Vergil Ortiz Jr in real life. That fight doesn't go two full rounds.

Don’t think he beats Murtazaliev, Madrimov, Tszyu or Fundora. Kelly looks very quick and flashy but he has 3 Flaws. He holds his left very low, goes back in straight lines and doesn’t throw enough jabs. He could get away with the low left if he controlled the distance behind a consistent jab and spun off when under attack but he doesn’t do that. I’m not convinced he beats Thurman or even Errol Spence if he can get in shape, as for Ortiz, don’t make me laugh!

He is open to facing the champions? Open? How about at least beating Avenesyan or anyone?

That’s the sort of style Thurman can really punish too. He times counter punchers and still looks sharp enough to put Kelly’s lights out. Would be a good matchup though with the small amount of activity Thurman has had.

Him against somebody like Kurbanov or Soro could be fights to make. Get past one of them then maybe you can start talking about the higher level because the level of opponent hasn’t been good enough to start throwing you’re name with the top guys at 154lbs
