Barrios is an average fighter but he’s a current world class WW and champion. Pacquaio is shot and literally geriatric. Did you read the part where he got beat up by a kick boxer? Pacquaio could barely move in that bout. Thats not even an exaggeration. I strongly suggest you watch that bout if you actually really think he has any kind of chance of beating Barrios.
If this is a suicide mission, why not chose someone he could make more with?
Tank moving up fits that perfectly, especially given he is also with PBC.
Instead, he chooses a below average boxer who was elevated to champ, for a good payday but not as big as other opponents would bring.
Basically you’re saying Manny chose the lowest paying no hope, suicide mission. That doesn’t make sense to me.

It cannot be anything else if you have even the most basic understanding of this sport. Which they do.
This fight should not be sanctioned. In fact, it wouldn’t suprise me if Pacquaio doesn’t make it to the ring.
I don’t mind old retired legends doing exhibitions. That’s been part of the sport for decades on decades. But Pacquaio is so serverly shot that he’s getting beat up in these exhibitions by people who aren’t even boxers.
To suggest he can beat a current world champion boxer is INSANITY!

He’s likely to seriously get hurt vs Barrios also but significantly less than he would vs Tank and Barrios is a belt holder and #2 at WW so it makes sense.
He’s fighting more than likely because be needs the money. Barrios is the least risk of death and the most to gain by winning a title. It’s irrelevant who he fights regardless. He cannot compete with anyone in the Top 20.
This is like some weird twilight zone where we’re trying to pretend we don’t know that Pacquaio is 46 years old and beyond shot and recently got beaten up by a kick-boxer.

Ok so if he is fighting because he needs the money, (I agree with you here) and all his choices are no chance wins, then why not choose the highest paying option?
Haney has no power, is scared to get hit, and draws more than Barrios. That would make more sense imo.
We’re in the real world where your logic is being fairly questioned because it doesn’t make sense that a boxer coming back for the payday doesn’t choose the highest paying option if faced with, as you say, any choice means he loses.
You are contradicting yourself when you say this is a chance at winning a title when IYO he has no hope to beat Barrios.
The only plausible reason Barrios was chosen is either the fix is in or Manny and his team really think he can win.

Tank would have target practice on Manny at this point

I was told the kick-boxer he had the bout with is a good kick boxer, I don’t know I don’t follow that sport.
But Pacquaio legitimately looked closer to 60 years old in that bout, it was sad to watch. He should not be getting sanctioned to fight any boxers in general let alone ones holding title belts.

Highest reward to risk ratio is what's being pursued here. It's not rocket science.
It's like saying why did Hatton come back and fight Senchenko in 2012 when he could have fought Marquez for way more money. Easy answer is because Marquez would have put him in the morgue probably.

He has a chance at winning a title on the basis he is fighting for a title. So there's a title on the line.
But the actual chance of him winning the fight is less than 0/1%.

Irrelevant. He won't win.
