Munguia just outworked Surace. He pressed the action and kept throwing punches but most of them landed on gloves. Very few clean punches actually got through, but he still kept repeating the same punch sequence for 12 rounds. Very strange he didn't change his approach..

I like Munguia. But to the writer of this article, how come you're saying Munguia "got even", just because he stayed cautious and outboxed his foe? How did he "get even", when Surace knocked him out in their 1st fight?

Not sure if that is a real question or not, but I will bite. Because they are 1-1. That is even. Sure, KO wins are more highlight reel and are indicated in parenthesis next to your name, but they do only count as one win, now don't they?

Munguia is a good, not great, boxer. He can fit nicely into the 164 landscape. He can beat or lose to most any of the 2nd tier names which will make for some really interesting fights for him. He is a good litmus test against young guns needing to step up. Not quite the gate keeper yet, but also not really NOT a gate keeper.....

Fair enough, and I can live with that criticism. But it is still 1-1 on the records. And you can say Munguia got exposed in the first fight, I feel Surace got lucky. Still 1-1.

The old Jaime Mungia was a lot more fun. I understand why he fought this way though. It was smart.
