    How Do You Score Fights?

    Personally, I take into account:

    Effective Aggression.
    Clean Punches.
    Defense.
    Ring Generalship.

I don't really consider ineffective aggression and wasted punches.

    But that's just me.

I keep it simple. 'Who landed the better punches?' usually works for me.

I look at every round as a seperate fight. A lot of people think that because Dirrell clearly outclassed Froch in a few select rounds, that transfers over to the scoring of the whole fight. Even if Dirrell clearly outlanded Froch, a round is still only scored 10-9. Fortunately for Froch, he just edged many of the the close rounds, and Dirrell had a point deducted. Very close fight indeed.

I agree with this rationale, but one small problem, when was Froch outlanding Dirrell, except maybe the first 3 rounds if that.

I think your boy Ward would've been much more impressive against Froch.

i judge a round on a few select things

who is landing the more cleaner punches

who is using the ring to their advantage more

            who is blocking more punches

            who is coming forward effectively

boxing is a sport were if you win the first 7 rounds but lose the last 5 clearly you still win 115-113...i laugh when people call fights like taylor hopins mosley cotto roberies

I always get it to the white man or Brit. If they are both white/brits I give it to the sexiest one.

same as me, but if its very close i give it to the aggresser (effective or not), who is usualy the guy i am rooting to win as i like aggressive fighters.

and i still had dirrel winning by a point with the deduction ffs. Horrible fight.

edit - thats a reply to the opening post

                  Most definitely.
Ward lets his hands go alot more.

Sometimes I like to think of judging a fight by seeing who is doing what they want to do and who isnt. A good example of this is Maliganaggi vs. Diaz, Paulie for most of the fight was doing what he wanted to do while Diaz wasnt. We've all seen Diaz fight many times and normally besides 3 times, he's had his way, that way was few and far between against Paulie.
