I gained respect for him. I never liked his style, and even if his personality was OK, all his flag-waving kinda pissed me off. I wanted Froch to win, and I believed Dirrell was not ready for him and would get KO'd. He even admitted that he was nervous when Jim Gray interviwed him. This, when combined with his inexperience and the possibility that he might be weight-drained, had me convinced he would get KO'd.

In the fight, the complete opposite happened. It's true what some have said, that he held and complained too much when he should've just FOUGHT. However, he won that fight. He absolutely outboxed Froch and even hurt him. Froch can't be given a decision just by going forward. He was never able to get into a rhythm or do anything significant in the entire fight. I agree with Dominicano Soy, who had it 9-3. In conclusion, he surprised me, and I give him props for a great performance. He fought a champion in his backyard for his first title fight and came out with the right game plan and did his thing. You gotta give him props for that whether you like his fighting style or not.

      That is not defense.

That is taking away from the fight.

I could see why Froch was frustrated and resorting to the roughhousing. I think he should have got a point taken away just as much as Andres was deserved.

It was a fight and Dirrell was turning it into a hugfest, then crying like Kermit Cintron when Carl would hit him anyways.

Develop an inside fight Dirrell and you won't have to act like a girl when it gets close.
Even as it was....it was completely inexcusable for Dirrell to back himself into a corner as many times as he did with all the physical attributes that he has against a guy who was just walking up to him with his hands down.

It happened repeatedly, round after round. If he had made Froch pay for coming straight in with his hands down that many times and kept himself out of the corners it would have kept Froch at armslength and wouldnt have to resort to the hugfest he turned the fight into.

I expected him to win, and I thought he did. He shoulda been more aggressive early. My opinion is pretty much unchanged. He's good, could be really good, won't be great.

I gained respect for Dirrell when he let his hands go and absolutely wobbled Froch. He can fight when he wants to with all his physical gifts, but the dude acts like a ***** whenever Froch got too close. It's a fcking fight not a pageant show. I love when a boxer gets knocked silly while he looks away from the fight and whines to the ref. It reminds him that this is a fight and the ref is not going to save you from taking shots.

Yeah, he gained my respect and proved he can compete at a world class level even though I thought he lost too. I wish him the best in his future fights in the tourney.

He showed that he has a great skillset but a poor heart. If he had traded with Froch, with his speed and movement (which he showed in glimpses) he could have won that fight easily. He beat himself, he has no-one to blame but himself.

Even if you didn't think he won (which quite a few including myself felt he should have) you have to admit it was a real close fight.
dirrell is a green prospect and has a way to go... but he beat froch and should've gotten the belt.

he needs to quit all that holding and let his hands go more... i think him and his team were concerned with his stamina, as this was the first time he was fighting a 12 rounder
