Fundora is the WBO champ. Crawford would only get it if Fundora vacates instead of fighting Bud, who is reported to have to vacate his interim belt to fight Canelo. Bud is the WBA champ, and Yoenis Tellez is his interim champ. Zayas is the next up for Fundora, and the winner of that fight may be ordered by the WBC to fight WBC interim Vergil, although I found out recently that being WBC interim actually doesn't guarantee a mandatory shot. Either way, Bud vacating his belt(s) to fight Canelo and/or retire won't give Ortiz any belts for free.

I feel that Boots is too big, too strong and too skilled for the remaining guys at 147. Sure, they can attempt to make fights with Barios and Norman but outcome is the same as Stanionis - he beats them up and stops them. Norman fights for $150K but rejected a $1.75M purse to fight Boots. What does that tell you? How much is he going to ask for now?
The real challenge for Boots is at 154 - Ortiz and Murtazaliev. Both guys punch hard and will land on Boots without repeatedly. That is what I would like to see. Real 50-50 fights.Comment

If it's about what I desire to see, Crawford. In terms of his career, I'm hoping he can get the fight he wants. He is at a crossroads between pursuing unification and going up in weight to secure fights that will hopefully increase his visibility in the sport. Unification is an accomplishment and matters for legacy. But it doesn't necessarily make more people want to pay to see you fight. He will be a decided favorite against Norman and definitely Barrios who was stopped by the current lightweight champion. On the other hand, there are no big names at 154 besides Crawford who is not really at 154. There are guys we think can be competitive but there are no mega fights at 154 either. If he can make the weight and get the fights, it may be more beneficial to unify at 147. What 154 offers is possibly tougher fights but not necessarily big PPV attractions.Comment

Ortiz had rhabdomyolysis, due to him working out too hard to lose weight. Cut out the chorizo and he makes 147 again.Comment
