I knew it. So it finally begins. Then what's stopping PBC, Golden Boy, Top rank from making their own belts if TKO wins this case ?

He's better off just buying the IBO and legitimize it. IBO has been around for years. Then you change TKO to the IBO league.

      Come senators, congressmen
      Please heed the call
      Don't stand in the doorway
      Don't block up the hall
      For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
      The battle outside ragin'
      Will soon shake your windows
      And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'

That's good - getting back to a league model is good.

I say "back to" because boxing used to have a major league - it was "go to America and fight on HBO." If you didn't come to American and fight on HBO, you weren't serious and no one took you seriously.

Now there is money everywhere, champions everywhere. Sanctioning bodies are going to give guys from countries that bring in the $$$ the best opportunities, and occasionally bring in weak fighters from elsewhere as patsys for optional defenses. Its corrupt and it stinks.

UFC is the defacto major league in the western hemisphere and ONE Championship is the major league in Asia. Other leagues exist and serve a purpose. It works well, and everyone can stop pretending all fighters in the world are in the rankings.

Boxing would benefit from a change.

Would be easier to talk Trump into banning alphabet organizations' US operations with ordinary executive order. At least WBC and WBA.
Then use Ring title as the official title of TKO.

Will the Ring still rank other fighters outside the league ? That's pretty dicey without removing the Ali act.

It’s a monopoly which is not good never has been. One is bias towards fighters from Thailand just like UFC is in USA.

Uh, no. UFC became the "major league" of MMA by beating out its competitors. That's the opposite of a monopoly.

Anyone can get some investors together and start a combat sports league. Which is what One Championship and PFL did.

In a monopoly, there would be some form of government/bureaucratic intervention to stop everyone else from starting their own leagues or at least stop them from putting on events in America.

There isn't - there are zero monopoly protections for combat sports.
