This article calls Collazo the lineal champion but he isn't.

Collazo vs Jerusalem II would be for the vacant lineage and fill the strawweight crown for the first time since Ricardo Lopez abdicated in 1999.

Unreleated question, but do you think Lopez's run seems underappreciated since it is overlooked like other lighter weight classes and Cruiserweight?

Not saying he beat mostly Hall of Famers like Mayweather Jr, but it's not like he took easy opposition or fighters out of their prime his whole career either.

      Title Challengers:
Pretty Boy Lucas (27-2-2, 7 KOs)
      Alex Sanchez (25-1, 18 KOs)
      Ala Villamor (29-1-1, 26 KOs)
      Oh Kwang-soo (6-0, 3 KOs) (decorated amateur)

      Former or Current Champions:
Ratanapol Sor Vorapin (38-5-1, 31 KOs)
      Hideyuki Ohashi (14-3, 9 KOs)
      Kermin Guardia (21-0, 14 KOs)
      Saman Sorjaturong (15-1, 13 KOs)
      Will Grigsby (14-1-1, 7 KOs)
      Zolani Petelo (17-2-2, 9 KOs)
      Rosendo Alvarez (24-0-1, 17 KOs)

I believe this is a pretty good run, especially his wins over Ohashi, Sorjaturong, and Alvarez standout.

What a weak division if you are fighting a rematch of a guy you stopped in 7 rounds with no controversy

Kinda like fighting AJ, Fury, and Dubois twice each, except that in this case the guy you beat earned his way back by beating another world champion, close one time, and more convincingly the second time.

I think the better metric of weakness is that there's only 279 active boxers in the division. Which is comparable numbers to a stacked division in women's boxing, and 10 times more than the women's divisions 160 and up, but still. I'm pretty sure it's the division with the fewest competitors. 105 is pretty small for a guy.

It's not uncommon in other divisions for former champs to still be in contention and get more title shots or even earn their way back to rematches. What annoys me more is when the rematch happens because of a clause when there's no need for a rematch because one guy won convincingly.

TBRB is the only ratings system that didn't have Collazo and Niyomtrong at 1 and 2 (whatever order) at the time they fought. They absurdly had Collazo BELOW Jerusalem, despite having already stopped him the year before.

Jerusalem has since twice beaten Yudai Shigeoka and holds a major belt. Collazo already took out the longest reigning champ in the sport. Jerusalem and Taduran are the path to undisputed.

                No they didn't. They had
                1. Knockout CP Freshmart (24-0, reigning WBA titlist with 11 successful defenses)
                2. Petchmanee CP Freshmart (39-1, reigning WBC titlist with 3 successful defenses)
                3. Oscar Collazo (7-0, had just beaten Jerusalem for the WBO title)
                4. Ginjiro Shigeoka
                5. Wanheng Menayothin
                6. Daniel Valledares
                7. Melvin Jerusalem
                8. Rene Mark Cuarto
                9. Yudai Shigeoka
                10. Masataka Taniguchi

It's not hard to look these things up before you make false claims.

These are not the rankings just prior to Collazo-Niyomtrong (week ending Nov. 9th). I don't even need site access to recognize that.
Collazo was #4 at the time, Jerusalem was ranked ahead of him (solely based on first win over Yudai Shigeoka).
