Just about everybody who fought/sparred Wilder said he hit harder than anybody they've ever been in the ring with

Only the "haters" claim he doesn't hit hard.

Hitting hard doesn't necessarily mean you'll beat everybody. Earnie Shavers was (before Wilder) considered almost universally the hardest hitter in boxing history & he only beat contenders & lost all the big fights he had.
Even if none of this were true, you can plainly see Wilder hits extremely hard. It’s quite apparent. And a good point about Shavers. Being a hard puncher, in and of itself, isn’t enough to reach the top. Or, in Deontay’s case, stay on top for long.

Plenty of heavyweights who hit hard fought journeyman yet could not drop all of them like Wilder could. The "prime mike tyson from 80s" everyone hypes and claims he would ko anyone, was the same one who went to points 4 times in the 80s even he could not drop all the journeymen he fought. Even journeyman can have a good chin if it was so easy to ko and drop everyone others would have done it. Also when his opponents did improve he still did stop breazeale molina ortiz dropped fury hard. Also as mentioned there are plenty of people who have fought him and sparred him and other heavyweights that have said he hit the hardest. And he doesn't weigh as much as a lot of bigger heavyweights either. Parker and Zhang he barely threw or land anything meaningful so can't really judge of that he didn't land a full clean chin check shot on either.

Is he a great boxer, no. But he had decent speed and timing to get off those KOs he use to get and is for sure a top 5 puncher heavyweight puncher all time
top level boxers dont continuously fight bums like him. how do you not understand this? you are using the fact that he was matched soft and twisting it into something good. it really is mind bobbling as wilder would say. also malik scott clearly took a dive so that should call into question the legitimacy of some of his fights

talking about power. Tyson fought like 20 odds bums beginning of his career. If that was in todays social media he would have been dissed on journeyman no. 6 like the fighters today are.
Tbh i was saying he need to fight better opponent difference is he did not have the star power or money behind him like AJ had. I wanted AJ or Wilder to fight Ortiz, Wilder fought him and kod him twice. Wilder and AJ never fought and should have (not going to go back and forth why have gone througu this plenty of times) he fought Fury 3 times. AJ did not. He was signed up to go to Russia to fight Povetkin till Povetkin popped dirty. Wlad didn't want to fight him as said he needed more fights, then wlad lost the belts and only had 1 more payday fight vs aj. Whyte takam puvlev i think wilder would have kod them. Also we are talking about power like i said anyone who think he is not the biggest puncher of this era is just hating. Weighs less than others, knocked down 40 opponents he still did it vs brezeale molina szpilka fury ortiz stiverne. Search the interviee of fighters who have fought and sparred with him and Wlad and others they will say Wilder hit the hardest.

Also you gotta be able to hit them to knock them out. Against Ortiz he waited until the opportunity presented itself in the later rounds. Fury just has an insane chin, and he couldn’t land a clean punch on Parker.

I think wilder is somewhere in the top 3 of hardest punchers of all time. He just didn’t learn the fundamentals early enough, and so relied on the power. I’m not a Wilder fan but non-gunshy wilder is one of the most terrifying finishers in history.

Daggum, I get what you are saying. Maybe you can demo it to all of us and go wear the pads and take one shot from him on the pads. Compare it to a shot from someone who has power you respect, although I'm not sure who that would be. You know, for science.

He has a decent right hand, that’s it.

I always said he’s a right hand with legs, nothing more.
