Haters, be honest, when Bivol beats both Davids , you will give him no credit

In 2022 he fought for the interim WBC super middleweight title
Tbf Canelo v Benavidez was only clamoured for; for a year before Bena moved up to 175. It's not a fight with years of anticipation. Bena won the interim title against Lemeiux in 2022 (around the same time Canelo fought Bivol), and there wasn't any hot demand for Bena v Canelo immediately after that. Bena didn't fight for 10 months after and then fought Plant in 2023, that's when the hype started to get going. In real terms there's only been two opponents Canelo has faced where the fans overwhelming called for Benavidez and that's when Canelo fought Charlo and when he fought Munguia.
Benavidez was in the mandatory position, but it wasn't called by the WBC so Canelo never had an obligation to face him. Had Benavidez moved back down and invoked his mandatory it would have forced Canelo to take the fight or face the shame of vacating.
It would have been a good fight, but I've never really been as hyped for it as other fans seem to be. Mainly because I think Benavidez' 168 resume is fairly underwhelming. He would have probably only been Canelo's 3rd best win at 168 by my estimation.
You figure it out
Canelo's 3rd best win at 168 by my estimation.
And yet here we are and he’s fighting Scull who’s a +$3000

u canelo butt holers never cease to amaze me u would have us believe that benny was the guy who actually ducked canelo and not the other way around the mind boggles benny was forced to move out of 168 by canelo and the wbc they are in no way going to change their minds and facilitate benny over canelo who has made his feelings clear on it benny is now chasing bivol because camel toe has lined up his usual smucks for fights

There's no excuse for him fighting Skull. It's probably his worst choice of opponent since Amir Khan.Last edited by Grimmer; 03-26-2025, 10:28 PM.Comment

Ryder was a more worthy opponent than Skull, even just based off the Jacobs win IMO
Yildirim and Fielding I don't take issue with those fights. And it's because they were taken as additional fights as opposed to them being on his May or Sept dates where you expect a decent opponent. He fought Yildirim just to collect the vacant WBC and he took it in the February, 3 months after beating Callum Smith and then he fought Saunders 3 months later in May. I wouldn't have otherwise expected Canelo to fight in Feb, so I don't consider it a bad fight. Fielding was similar. Canelo had fought the 2nd GGG fight in Sept, then fought Fielding in Dec as a welcome to DAZN fight. If he'd fought Skull in between his Sept-May dates as an additional fight, I'd have no issue.
Charlo - On ability alone he's a better opponent than Skull. Charlo, an undisputed champ, had a decent height and reach advantage against Canelo even though moving up two weights. It's not one of Canelo's strongest wins but just a couple of months later Benavidez dragged up Andrade, who had no physical advantages, who wasn't a current champion, nor even ever a unified champ in his own weight class. Yet that win was widely acclaimed and had the Bena hype in overdrive. But ironically even a middling win Canelo gets no credit for; like Charlo was still better than who Benavidez was fighting at the time.Last edited by Grimmer; 03-26-2025, 11:36 PM.Comment

Sad , actually quite sad that you would even attempt to justify this chit

Show me one fight where Katsidis was -$1000

You're being wilfully ignorant. I said Skull was his worse choice of opponent since Khan. You offered up 4 counter examples of who you thought were worse. I gave my reasoning why I thought the 4 examples weren't as worse than Skull. No one is claiming they were great fights.Last edited by Grimmer; 03-27-2025, 01:13 AM.Comment
